Hi guys,

Okay, I really need help and would really appreciate any and all help with this.

Basically, I've been tasked with trying to find new sponsorships for the VWS next year.

Obviously, we'd like to try and approach local companies (based in CPT) as obviously, this is the area we work in etc but any companies who might help would be great.

I've been helped with a contact in Telkom so that's great.

If you guys know any companies, big / small, local or whatever who you think might be willing, please PM me the contact details so we can do up a proposal which we will pass onto them - obviously, I would really appreciate a direct contact, so, that means, the person who deals with sponsorships / CSI would be great.

We are obviously looking at getting the following - see our wish list here

Any company, big or small, worst is they can say is no... but I'm asking you guys for help because you guys are all so bloody well connected. :D

Thanks guys!

 go to the banks or some company that makes major money.

Go find out the bank manager's address set his house on fire and rescue his family. Done and dusted.

The problem is, getting details of someone who can actually help is the problem.

I've got a e-mail for Absa, but nothing for FNB or Standard Bank etc.

Thus why I asked for help Killa.

Just phone up the major banks and ask who is in chage or their sponsorships. They will give you someone.

The banks are keen on sponsoring that type of thing. Insurance companies as well. Maybe make some intensive for them, hold some of sort of function for fund raising possibly?

I'm in the process of building up a list of contacts and will proceed to contact them (not me actually, someone else)

Ya but dude make sure you guys come up with something that makes them take an interest.

They get many many people asking for stuff so you need to do something to get their attention. Not sure what but give it some thought. Cold calling does not work.

. e.g. Flat screen monitors, big screen TV, air conditioner, awning, computer equipment, outfitting costs.
Approx. value: R 50 000.00
(VWS Newlands)

Did they forget to add PC games, a freezer full of chops and the Gas Braai too?

vws =

volunteer dudes who think chicks think that guys who put our fires are sexy...:D

oh yeh, looking at your list, man I would love to sponser #13 but can only afford #20

on a serious note, I'm sure there are tons of places that would sponser stuff like this, I think I've even read of embassies donating fire fighting equipment

www.vws.co.za / Volunteer Wildfire Services - basically, in a nutshell, we are wildfire fire fighters who fight fires in mountains and such.

Hahaha... Look, we have to try and make the base feel homely - when X team is fighting fires, Y team is doing logistics and Z is doing planning.

If you know someone who can sponsor #1 - let me know, every little bit helps - we'll approach anyone, worst they can say is NO, best is they can say yes and such.
This year we are going to PUSH our marketing, we are so going to get our name out there and i promise, by the next fire season, we're going to have some big names behind the VWS! :)

Oh, we have a HUGE brand that is going to come on board, what they will sponsor etc - I'm not sure of, but yeah... ;)

We do try have socials, where members can come to base and sit and watch rugby or whatever, but ultimately, the TV is used for planning and such, members can come in and see the situation, even the public can see it, because we have the burning area and teams marked on a map of Google Earth (area burning)

Hell, even the pilots and such use it as planning etc.

But why o why do you need a dishwasher? Surely you have new guys there needing to earn their stripes?

We do other things - remember, they are volunteers, we don't treat them as slave labour - thus, a dishwasher makes life easier.

Hell. We didn't get a dishwasher in the NSRI. We were treated to work parties and we are volunteers too. Come to think of it we as first timers never got trauma debriefing on body recoveries either. But we don't sit around and whine. Just got on with the job. Again and Again.

It's a wish list for a reason Hosehead... no need to go on like a spoilt little brat - we have members who also volunteer for NSRI - how we do things and how they do things are different.
I can't help it if no one in the NSRI bothered to get things for you guys - I'm different, we (as a unit) are different.

You guys have Vodacom as a major sponsor if I'm not wrong - we don't really have that luxury, we raise money and have to pay for everything ourselves, actually, looking at the NSRI's web site, the NSRI have alot of big boys sponsoring them.

You are looking for a dishwasher and a big screen TV for the Rugby? You've already said you've got a major sponsor coming aboard. Keep your Ego in your pants with the zipper up ok.

No, you read wrong, as per usual.

The TV is used for more than just rugby Hosehead.
We 'might' have 1 major sponsor (emphasis on the might part), obviously, we'd like more. 1 can't be expected to do everything.
