Help: Good method to trade older Graphics cards needed

Greetings to the mybroadband community, this is among my first few posts, kinda new to forums, but loving it so far, great community with really helpful people. Not sure if this is the correct place to post this topic, but I decided to post it here because I'm trying to reach out to other gamers like myself who might be in a similar situation.

I love to play the latest games and over the years have developed the obsession for 60fps XD however, I can't always keep up with the latest GPUs and therefore tend to buy them pre-owned on gumtree - you know, one man's trash can be another man's treasure. There's no denying that GPUs with specs you're looking for can be expensive brand new so it's worth looking on gumtree for some good offers

But my problem is, sometimes there are really good offers from a completely different province and it would be impossible to arrange a meeting. So I recently learnt that couriers can be a pretty neat tool to get packages transferred from one person to another for a decent price

But the main reason I'm asking for help is that I've never actually used the service in this way before (I've ordered stuff from Amazon and Takealot etc.) but what I mean is, if for example, someone has a GPU that they aren't happy with because they can't get good frame rates for on a 1080p screen and I'd be happy to buy it from said person because I'm gaming on a screen that's 1600 × 900 and I'm almost certain that the GPU will be fine for me, how can I ensure that this person gets the money as promised and I get my package

Because from my understanding, you just pay the courier service like XOC, or The Courier Guy whatever the appropriate price is for the weight and dimensions of the package and they move it

But I'm not sure how the money can be moved between gamers in a way that ensures trust. Since we aren't big businesses like Takealot, we're just ordinary people, there must be a way to do a once off trade using the help of couriers?

Not sure if I explained everything properly but hoping there are others here that have done this before and can offer solutions

Thank you

So you guys have used carbonite before?

Just for my own understanding, the process involves contacting a senior member of this forum, paying this senior member the amount that the seller is asking for

Then the seller gets the package sent to the senior member who can test the item and finally the senior member couriers the package to the buyer?

That's to make the process easier if you are a newbie. If you prefer and the person you are buying from is local, go collect and pay.

Golden rules though :

-Don't ever send money via eWallets.
-Every member has an iTrader score, look through it and see how they treat their deals.
-Don't give a member an iTrader until paid(if seller) or until you've tested the item(if buyer).
-Don't fall for sob stories.

Eh. I would just trade in my existing GPU with GTX Gaming for a new one and pay the difference.

You'll get peace of mind.

Cool, but if using courier can't be avoided due to distance, how do you guys generally agree on things like who pays first or who ships the item first? Using the iTrader feature?

Thanks, had a look at the prices, it's a bit too much for me to buy brand new although I didn't see any option to trade in older cards though

Message him on mybb. He can do better pricing as well, and I can vouch for his service.

Usually if you have a <10 iTrader I’d insist you ship first but it’s up to you and your comfort level at the end of the day.

Wow guys, thanks a ton for introducing me to carbonite, I successfully made a purchase for a used GPU and got it couriered right to my door. That place is amazing. If I never opened this thread I would have never even known about the existence of this site. Really appreciate the help. This new card is awesome

Ahh, nothing quite like getting a new GPU. Just be careful of Carb or you'll end up with more GPUs than you need :D
