Help - HDDs don't work after being dropped on the floor...

Sorry to hear about the problems dude, but you are a KICK ASS writer. I have never enjoyed a post more on this site (except for the bad news) but your descriptions were priceless :D I have such an image painted in my head when reading it :)

Yes btw. Sorry all. They recovered 98% of the data and that was the important 98%. I now no longer have to fap to my Farmer's Weekly subscription - sorry Bessie, it's not you, it's me...

BTW - the R8k to R15k estimates were well off. It did take replacement parts, but all in all it cost R3,500 incl. Not a bad deal at all. Gonna have to make my sister pay for it though. Any takers? Bidding starts at R500/hr...

I've heard of people paying R15,000 aw well ....

They've eaither dropped pricing alot in the past 2 years - or some places still charge that?

R3,500 incl VAT and parts. I guess using NLP against someone might be immoral, but it's not illegal...

Cool description of the event leading to the loss. :D

Why did it take five months to recover the data?

It took me 5 months to remember that I had to update the thread.

I take any and every opportunity to ask another question. :p
