So can we agree that this may be the last time your sister comes to visit during school holidays?
Yes, but what concerns me more is the fact that this might be the last time my mate ever lends me a hard drive...

www.intratec.co.za - i just paid R2700 to recover 96% of the data after it got shorted with a power surge.. Their service is brilliant.. Good luck!

what happens if they see you have a keygen for winzip or an ISO of "Little Barbie Adventure 2" or a NFO/etc for "Terminator 2" ?
So now the only questions that remain:
• Are you telling him, or just having it repaired?
• Is his friendship worth the 3 grand?
If he is a real mate, I'm sure he'll understand...![]()

do they do anything though?
I told him about 5 minutes ago once I was sure I was going to have the data recovered.
His reply: "Sweet dude, let me know when its done and if they couldn't recover anything"
So yes, he is a mate worth the R3k...

Good thing that he choose photography and not neurosurgery as his occupation. He's just that kind of guy. He has a "couldnt give a ****" attitude to most things. We get along well...![]()

Sorry to hear about your whisky glass DJK, hope it wasn't your favourite glass. it would just tear me up if mine got broken.
How much whisky was in it?
Hope it wasn't Chivas.
No it was my second favourite but heart-wrenching nonetheless...
Luckily the glass was only half [-]empty[/-] full but it was a glass of 12 year old dimple. Thanks for your concern and support, it really means a lot to me...
Sounds about right - there could be considerable physical damage to the drive. PS - thank you Apple for putting accelerometers in my Macbook Pro. :d
It still looked OK though (apart from the big scratch all along one side), so I found religion for a few seconds, prayed, and swore that if it still worked, I would even contemplate trying it out again sometime.
