Help me choose a new printer?

Hi all, at this moment I have a canon scanner, lide 25, and canon ip4200 photo printer. But I want a all in one for some space saving. Scanner and printer, maybe fax too, but thats not a must. I want to print photos as well, and just normal scanning and copying. What I dont like about my printer now, is the cost of the inks, but further it's a very good quality printer. And the scanner too, a very good quality. Which way should I go, canon again or epson? Do epson also have this built in chip in the inks like canon? If it's possible I want something which I can buy generic cartridges, but if the original ink isn't that expensive, I'll go for that. My budged isn't too high, maybe up to R1500. Please guide me. Thks

I cant tell you much about much :) but yes - the epson's do have chipped cartridges but you can buy refilled or generic ones - you just cant do the refilling yourself (afaik).

I think epson is one of the best wrt to photographs.

take a look at hp photosmart printers. i have the c7283 and it is amazing. very cheap cartridges (no print head in cartridge), amazing photo results (6 colours) and pretty fast. has separate tray for photo paper. scan, copy, fax. usb, ethernet and wireless. ADF and duplex.

how much would this bad boy go for?

If you want to go with rather good value for money, and also a very good printer for photographs, etc. then go for Brother... They have a wide variety of printers to choose from, and supplies for them aren't so expensive either...

Okay now we're talking. But please dont stop now. I need more advice. I wont buy a printer of R2400. I just dont use it that much to pay that much. I can see it's a good printer, but I'm not a rich man, and a baby on the way, sooooo.....
