Not necessarily, it depends how you structure it, assuming they're being paid above minimum wage you could just make some of their salary a "performance bonus" and one of the performance targets that would have to be met is zero theft...

Still, even with this, you cannot make deductions without their consent. You can however, impact on their future earniongs, like you mentioned. Be careful wtih deductions, any deductions that the employee did not consent to or that was not enforced by a legal order such as a garnishee order, is illegal.

I'm just saying there's always a legal way to implement what you want, it just depends how you word it.

Having cameras up and around your home cannot be illegal,it's for security reasons.

No sorry chaps for not responding sooner, I've really not been on MyADSL this year so far

We haven't had anymore thefts so far but I doubt it will be the end of it, I have little faith in people of late when it comes to criminal behaviour!

Sorry I typed that a little too quickly. I meant did you have no more thefts as a result of putting cameras in?

Nope, I didn't put camera's in, but surprise surprise, after the one dude just upped and quit his job, (without notice, just didn't come back to work!) the theft has stopped.
