Help me choose a netbook

GuDoN,

S10 has 512MB soldered onto the MB, so when you get the single stick 2g RAM, 512 will be wasted as MB only supports upto 2g RAM. I guess I wouldn't know the difference between original 1G and 2G as I up the RAM a day after I got the machine. But usually the more the better, I usually open 10+ tabs in my Browser, plus multi window chatting so I guess it helped.

ZA.Schmidt,
You can buy the 3 cell machine and get 6 cell later, but 6 cell will cost you R1000 incl VAT from anyone, I already asked. So that's why I would recommend get the 6 cell now at this price...

I have a Proline U100 (rebranded MSI Wind) and it's great!

I installed Apple OSX on it as well, so I have my very own hackintosh that I only spent R2999 on!

I also went thru this whole netbook testing and buying phase - but every time the netbook I wanted was either sold out or going for MUCH more than I was willing to spend!

I had a look at the Dell Mini 9 (great Hackintosh candidate), but would've had to increase the ram and sdd before I could start. Can still get one 2nd hand for less than R2850 if anyone interested...

Then I looked at the R3999 HP mini 2140 - great keyboard, but can't get the HD screen in SA yet!

In the end I got a 2nd hand MacBook (the 1st ones) for cheap(ish) and using that...

If you still want to go netbook - wait for the HP 5101 or the other 3rd generation netbooks - they really rock!

PS - Anybody bought from mynewlaptop.co.za yet? I almost bought their HP 615s last week when it was on special for R4130, but then I got the Macbook...
