Currently have Telkom LTE 40gig 20night.

The Xiaomi Mi Box S is widely regarded as the best you can get at its price point, and it's currently on a special of R1100 from MIA. That's what I'm considering pulling the trigger on now for myself.

Just make sure the box you get is Netflix certified - that cuts out most of the cheap and nasty Chinese boxes with sideloaded Netflix apps that will never be able to update.

Only thing i can think of is, netflix not really interested at the moment.
showmax i can get for free.

Looking for another option, like movie streaming watching series etc.
apparently this has dstv app
kodi etc..

Telkom LIT box / Ematic / Mi Box

Either of those are better than the T96

But significantly more cost wise?? i can get it for R600
And this is where you get what you pay for comes in.

R600 - sideload apps which you have to update manually and reinstall whenever something changes. Random freezes and a OS which is suited for a phone and not a media player
R1100 - Automatic updates and Android TV.

I had the X96 and trust me, the LIT box is worth the extra money over and over again.

Whether you are interested in Netflix now or not, the mi box s is going to be a very good choice here.. when later on you want Netflix, you are going to kick yourself when it does not work on your cheap Chinese TV box which is still running Android 7 5 years from now..

And it's not just Netflix.. you may find existing apps that work now, stop working a year later because the android version the TV box is running is not updated etc etc etc..

Does the LIT box even work with Netflix natively now? When I had it a year ago you had to sideload Netflix as well.

Since you're aiming to save money rather get the Telkom Lit Box (R1100). The Xiaomi Mi Box have only one USB port. The Lit have 2 USB, 1 SD card reader, OTG to easily copy to from your phone and a LAN/ethernet port.

The cheap box is rubbish and eventually you'll have to replace it.

Edit: with the Mi Box S you might have to spend extra money to get features the Lit Box already have (example: LAN port)

That's not how we roll on Mybb. Leave it open and in 5 to 10 years someone can wake this thread from it's sleep and we can all continue posting in it like nothing changed (aside from time).
I can't wait that long, tell me now what box to get !

The Xiaomi Mi Box S4. You will have to buy a subscription in order to activate the USB 3 port, to stream in 8k and over and to remove ads.

But the $12 a month will be totally worth it.
