I don't have the Ematic/ Lit box but i have used them and trust me it's a pleasure to use.
Add soon as i need a new box I'm getting it

If I get the Ematic or Lit box and play a 4K movie but on 1080p TV, does it just downscale it, would there be any stutter as it now has to fiddle with it?

If I play something 4K on my Mi Box it direct plays on my 1080P TV, so it doesn't fiddle with it, it only sends 1080P.

It does yes. I can connect to either 5ghz or 2.4ghz ... not that it makes much difference.
