Help me choose a VOIP provider

Hello, I know this has been discussed before sorry. Initially we wanted to go with IS Ignite, but we had horrible customer service so far, so they are out.

We currently have Telkom's hunting facility I think that is what it is called? So we have 2 special numbers from telkom that we cannot lose. It is those 0861 numbers. (non-geographic)

Firstly will a VOIP solution be possible keeping in mind we need to keep the 0861 numbers?

Secondly the rates we would like is:

Local (landline)
R0.20c

Mobile
Vodacom - R 0.22
MTN - R 0.22
Cell C - R 0.30
Telkom - R 0.35

Who do I call?

So far i know, you cannot port 086 numbers, but you can keep the number and tell telkom to transfer your calls to your new VOIP supplier.

depending on your budget and number of extensions, choose a supplier that can manage the connection. also a hosted environment is a good option, better than a pbx on site.

if you have access to fibre, you can route your traffic over that connection. if not, microwave is a decent option, but will be better if the voip supplier also manage that connection, as they can tweak the connection to prioritize voice.

I'm leaning towards Switch Telecom...
 
Ive tried 3, they all ***. Went back to good old POTS because it just works.

If all you want to do is accept that number for inbound, then maybe we can help. It gets tricky (legally) if you want it to display on outbound.

Hi All,

I'm working on a plan to move to fibre as soon as physically possible and would like to get a VOIP line setup and operating prior to that if possible. I'm not sure what my options are. Obviously cost will be important but acceptable service also needs to be equally as important. I'd really appreciate any advice and guidance you can share with me.
