I recently took a test while doing my "Introduction to Windows 7" course and I highly disagree with my answers marked wrong. They do not give what the right answer is all they do is mark it wrong.

1. Define a Aero Theme

a) A variety of built in themes that can be applied to the computer
b) Settings that change the behaviour of the computer
c) Themes used when we are aboard an airplane

My Answer: B

Why I think its right, An Aero theme adds effects to the computer IE: Aero Peek, shake to minimize and Transparent bars and windows.

2. What is the purpose of the System Restore feature in Windows 7?

My answer: System Restore is a feature in Windows 7 that enables you to undo system changes to your computer should new software cause the system to malfunction.

3. Below are the steps required to move a file called Newspaper.docx in folder1, from Folder1 to Folder2 in the Documents folder. Arrange them to the correct sequence in the table below. I had a laugh at this one.

-Cut the file
-Open the Documents folder
-Open Folder1
-Right click and paste
-Select Newspaper.docx
-Open Folder2

My Answer:

-Open the Documents folder
-Open Folder1
-Select Newspaper.docx
-Cut the file
-Open Folder2
-Right click and paste

Any help would be appreciated.

Since it could be interpreted that only Folder 2 is in the Documents folder…
-Open Folder1
-Select Newspaper.docx
-Cut the file
-Open the Documents folder
-Open Folder2
-Right click and paste

Question 1 is a bit vague but A is possibly what they are looking for, question 3 is definitely wrong if you read the question properly.

You see there are 2 correct ways to do this.

If you physically do it my way, you will get the same result as your answer.

No you wont because they want you to do it in linear order, opening the documents folder will not allow you to find folder1 and vice versa.

No were does it say folder1 is or isn't in the documents folder.

Correct answer: System restore is used to revert Windows 7 to a previously stored state called a System Restore Point. This can be used to recover a system from malfunctioning software, drivers or startup configuration.

Nor does it say that it is. You assumed.

It boils down to it being a test of your grammar...

Sigh ok it looks wrong on a technicality, what are your thoughts on the other two questions?

1) Aero is actually a design language specification similar to Metro; so the question's answer isn't fully correct. But A is closer than B.
2) You didn't give any detail of how System Restore works. You can't just pick a change and then undo it, nice as that may be. It's a set of restore points that roll back any changes to the PC.
3) To me, the wording of the question suggests that Folder1 and Folder2 are both in the My Documents folder. So the order of where you put the folder shouldn't have been material.

In future, rather than trying to 'debunk' any test results you disagree with, why don't you rather focus on trying to figure out what you got wrong and improve your attention to detail and specificity, as it's obviously what they were marking you down on.

Not sure about that. It's ambiguous in its current format...

1 - A (although vague as i said before)
2 - Hard to know without seeing source notes and what exact definition they are looking for.

If your way was the correct way we wouldn't be having this discussion. :p

2. What is the purpose of the System Restore feature in Windows 7?

My answer: A Windows feature that allows you to restore a Windows 7 computer to a previous state, before certain changes where made.
