Hi guys,

I am struggling to decide on which 3G offering to take ( Cell C, Vodacom or now even MTN )

They all have similarly prices packages with similar bandwidth. Each one has its PROS and CONS. MTN's latest offering seems to be very good for me ( 2GB R149 x 24 at 21.1MB ) I would just like to know from you guys that is on the MTN 3G network what the speeds are like. I play quite a bit of online games ( COD4, COD Black Ops, etc ) My ping on my current 3.6mb VC 3G Huawei E220 is around 90ms. Would this imrpove drastically with the new MTN 21.1MB offering. Thanks guys

Depends on the area vs coverage you're like to get where using it, I suppose. But if that's not an issue and coverage is good, I'd go Cell C.

I know, that's what I'm feeling as well. But Vodacom ( and that means Cell C as well ) is not peering with iGames anymore. But MTN is. And that is basically the only place where the guys are still actively playing online. So in that sense I don't really want either of those. Im just concerned as to what speeds you will be getting with MTN as I have been a Vodacom user since I can remember and am not clued up with the whole MTN thing. So some insight into connection speeds etc would be much appreciated.

Ive tried Blackops with the MTN 3g connection, just make sure you have a data card with a decent upload speed in order to get into a game every time, which i didnt.... other than that, when i did finally get into a game my lag was nonexistent.

Awesome, the new deal they have is for the 21.1MB modem. So I think it should be ok.... Plus their OOB rates are the best as well

You might want to keep in mind that MTN is 24 months while CellC & VC are 12 months.

if you indicate your area the folks in your locality will be able to give you accurate answers.

I stay in Randburg, Northwold. Tried the normal E270 modem and get a ping around 80 odd. So I'm sure the new Modem will be faster. It's bad that it's 24 months, but that's ok. Cell C cannot play on iGame servers and VC OOB rates are ridiculous!!!

i would not touch Cell C with a 900 foot pole - I find this route of the internet very expensive - im looking for cheaper alternatives such as Amobia
