ok guys im not trying to start an arguement here but please help me decide weather to buy one of the consoles (i know witch one to buy so please lets not go there) or just wait and upgrade my pc if you say i must upgrade could you tell me what to upgrade eg: what motherbord, cpu, graphics card etc.....thanks:D

Well I'm on my 1st console since the Sega Mega Drive, and I'm really enjoying it. It's a different, more sociable, gaming experience.

I think the comparison is only plausible if you reveal which console as there is a huge difference in price, capability, availability and possibly content. :o

Can I suggest searching for xbox360 or console in the existing threads, there has been a ton of debate already.

As for your pc upgrade, what sort of budget do you have?

I got my console 3 months ago and couldn't be happier. I've barely touch my PC for anything except checking email.

From the PC cycle there's no longer the constant nagging of necessary upgrades. With a PC no matter what you upgrade today, you're going to have to upgrade something again tomorrow, it never stops. I used to shop for more gaming hardware than I shopped for games, that's no longer an issue.

PC gaming is also on a cusp. for the next few years you're going to need high end stuff to play games on max settings, I'd rather suggest get a console now, and when things settle down in 2 or 3 years time, you'll be able to afford a new, capable, midrange PC at a fraction of the cost. consoles also have far better resale value if you make the wrong choice for you.

EDIT: And just as a side note - if you're looking at the 360, there's the whole Live side of things that absolutely rocks. It's not just "servers" like PC, but a fully integrated social network. AND don't forget IPTV and XBLVM coming to the 360 shortly.

well I would get the xbox no doubt and i have
Gefore6100 m9
512mb 66oo nvidea card
1 gig ram etc

In that case I'd definitely suggest getting a console. Not to be mean, but that's the same spec as the PC I have at the moment, and it's not bearly enough to play any current games, let alone those coming out shortly.

PC
1. Generally more expensive start-up
2. Can run software like programming tools, Adobe or Excel/Word
3. Susceptible to viruses and what not
4. Games are cheaper
5. Easier to get ripped, copied or emulated games working

Console
1. Plug and play
2. More sociable
3. Games more expensive
4. No virus crap
5. Essentially cheaper, but a proper HDtv is pretty expensive.

Seriously, if you’re going to use the hardware only for entertainment purposes only, whatever those are, just go console. Simpler. And vice-a-versa.

Note: For consoles, I’m not clued in on internet functionality, like blogging and downloading from sites, and what you need to get it all up and running.

Go for the console...

Cheaper, easier and more entertaining.

However it depends on what type of gamer you are and what games you like as well....

If you like multiplayer then Xbox 360 is the way to go
If you like weird Japanese games then the PS3 is most probably the better option
If you just game for fun then take a look at the Wii

Come on give us some more juicy details.

Ahem between Onechebara Vortex, Idolmaster, Bullet witch, DOAX2, Raiden 4, Earth defense force X and the likes of Blue Dragon, Project Sylpheed and Lost Odyssey there's plenty of "weird Japanese Games" on the 360. ;)

Yeah no I was talking more about things like Blue Dragon (which is on the 360). It is the weird games that I have absolutely no interest in playing...

the PS3 is going to beat the 360 in Japan so games made for the Japanese will always be on the PS3... If that floats your boat then great..

Personally I prefer GOW, Halo, Carckdown and that sort of game.

PC's cost on the hardware side consoles cost on the software... It probably balances out, which only leaves personal preference. Of course, HDTV's... I would only buy a console if I had the TV to go with it, which is another 8k upwards. On standard def you may as well stick to PS2 or Wii.

I'm sticking with my PC. It has everything it needs to run current games and I'll be selling my gfx to buy an 8800 which will then only cost me R1000 or so and have me sorted out for the next gen of games. Thats about the cost of two Xbox360 games?

Firstly, 360 (or lets say "nextgen" for arguments sake) looks awesome on an SDTV as well. There's more to realism than just pixel count. Having said that, you also seem to forget that with a 360, you can do "Poor Mans HD" by hooking it up to a PC monitor with the VGA cable . . .

Ah. But when you're done with those two 360 titles you can sell them or trade them. Unlike PC games which hold no aftermarket value.

Offtopic but I have to point this out.
You are only susceptible to virusses if you don't update your antivirus, firewall and security patches. And open and run files/emails if you don't know the origin or don't scan them before opening/running them. You have to do something stupid to get a virus.;)

Personally I would go for the pc. But each to his own there's room for pc ad console gamers.

I would say upgrade my pc but then again it also depends on how much money your willing to spend on upgrades for your pc.IF not much rather go for ps3 or xbox.

Upgrades for pc if u decide to do it:P
Intel or amd that your choice.
if intel go for this board
Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 cost +/- R2675
if amd go for Gigabyte GA-M57sli-s4 +/- R1200

video card
Geforce 7900gs -R2800 budget choice (really depends how much u willing to spend.)
if u more of a radeon fan can go for the Sapphire Ati X1950PRO-R2200
Hard drive i would not go for anything under 160gig with today's games.
nothing less then 1 gig ram ddr2 2 gig is the best option.
