Help me with a PC build!

Postman is there a reason they would need a 2k mobo?

Surely a cheap intel mobo for 1k should be fine, how about a good sound card? No idea what kinda of sound stuff they will doing so maybe that is why postman went with a 2k mobo.

What about an i3 cpu, would that also not be worth it? If they are on a tight budget a cheap intel mobo with a cheap i3 should do the job?

P8H67-MLX ASUS P8H67-M LX - INTEL H67 CHIPSET (NEW B3 STEPPING) - LGA 1155 FOR INTEL 2ND GENERATION CORE I7 / CORE I5 AND CORE I3 PROCESSORS - MICRO ATX FORM FACTOR, 2X DDR3 (MAX 16GB 1333MHZ), 1X PCI EXPRESS 2.0 X16, 1X PCI EXPRESS 2.0 X4, 2X PCI, 4X SATA (RAID 0,1,5,10) 2X SATA 6GB/S, 14X USB 2.0, 10/100/1000 GB LAN, ALC887 8 CHANNEL HIGH DEF AUDIO, BACK PANEL: 1X PS2 MOUSE, 1X VGA, 1X DVI, 6X USB 2.0, 1X LAN (RJ45) 3 AUDIO JACKS R 805 excl. R 917 incl.

Intel Core i3 2100 Processor - 3.10GHz, Socket 1155, 3MB L3, 2.0Gb/s DMI Interface R 999 excl. R 1,138 incl.

That cuts the price by 1k but perhaps there is a reason you need a highish end board

External soundcard will be used, so that's not relevant either.

I need to put together a PC, and it must be as cheap as possible, but not as crap as possible, if you know what I mean?

Copa if they got 5.5k then postmans stuff is spot on

Yeah, it's a little bit much, but it looks pretty kickass.

I'd rather the balance be swung towards a better system than less money. Should be possible, we'll see. :D

Lol. If needs be the second 4GB RAM can be added later.

Hell I'd even get the CPU second hand. i5 quads go for R1400osh second hand.

In general though copa you should find out what they are willing to spend. Also if you have an esquire account you could get much lower pricing.

Even sahara, they have a 20" benq for 800 bucks which is insane. Esquire have case plus 450w for 220.00 as well

P8H67-M LX MOT ASUS P8H67-M LX,STK 1155,2XDDR3,GBLAN - 1X PCI EXPRESS 2.0 X16, 1X PCI EXPRESS 2.0 X4, 2X PCI, 4X SATA (RAID 0,1,5,10) 2X SATA 6GB/S, 10/100/1000 GB LAN, ALC887 8CHL SND,PANEL: 1X PS2 MOUSE, 1X VGA, 1X DVI, 6X USB 2.0, 1X LAN (RJ45) Retail Box 3 year warranty 799.00

If usb 3 is something they really require and cannot live without you can just pop in a usb 3 card. Where can you buy direct?

Direct? Probably any supplier in PE.

I have an idea of the price, 5K was about the limit, but 500 bucks is not too serious an issue, I don't think.

I was also needing general build ideas, I haven't purchased a computer in many years, have no idea what's going on in the hardware world really.

What about this?

Comes to about 6300 I think.

Seems like a good deal?

Any reason why not?

And, quick, need to decide ASAP! :D

Definitely, would cost 10% more or more in the shops. Add another 4GB RAM and that will be a beast for music for years to come.

That thing has to have a piece of cardboard for a mobo, 5499 for a core i7 system :0

an i7 2600 is almost R3k on its own, and a 1 TB hdd is well over R1k as well.

sounds like a sweet deal bro. Don't forget to buy Windows !

*whaaaat ! it includes win 7 pro. unreal.

Yeah if you include the price of windows go for the Lenovo deal! (usb 3 and sata 3 aren't that important imho)

I tried googling what board it has in it last month but couldn't find the exact model, the other thinkcentre edge range use H61 boards so I'd assume it's one of those (I.E.- 2 Ram slots and no usb 3 or Sata 3)

Could not find any info either, and I agree with you on the necessity of the things.
