Help! Mweb outgoing email not working

Here is the story.

In February this year, we changed ISP. Be switched from Mweb Adsl to Cool Ideas fibre. We called Mweb to say we want to cancel our service but keep our email services. They said ok and cancelled the line. As far as I know, there is a monthly fee for keeping the email. We never received and bills, yet the service kept working.

Now, months later, outgoing emails are not sending anymore. This started happening on Monday. The service runs on Outlook.

We can receive messages, but every time something is sent, an error report is received: '550 this account is locked out because of abusive behaviour'

Called Mweb, they said we must contact our ISP. Called Cool Ideas, they say our mail server must stay the same as before. Contacted Mweb again, they helped me through settings and suddenly it works again. Yay.

1 day later, and it stopped again.
This process repeated 3 times.

Mweb gave us a new passwors each time and changed our outgoing mail port(or something like that)

Anyway, now they can't help us anymore.

Mweb blames Cool Ideas, but Cool Ideas say its Mweb.

Either way, I find it strange that it would only stop working after months.

Can anyone relate or help me with this problem?

This would require a password reset and for us to unlock it thereafter.

You don't have to use outgoing settings from Mweb. Just use Cool Ideas for your SMTP server.

Just a suggestion :-
1. register a Gmail address as it doesn't cost anything and you can use it with any ISP without problems. That way you can be assured that you won't keep having this issue.
2. configure Outlook to use the Gmail address.
3. log in to MWeb's online portal and set up email forwarding to the Gmail address (if they have it, not sure) as well as an auto-responder to inform your contacts of the new address (I'm fairly sure they do have this unless it's changed recently).

You may be running into the same problem as described in this post.
Try the fix described there :
So, if you can't connect to smtp.mweb.co.za from a "foreign" network, try connecting instead to relay.mweb.co.za using port 587. It works for me for sending mail via MWeb from a variety of non-MWeb networks.
Your Mileage May Vary!
