Apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum.
MWeb advised us to move away from MTN LTE and to instead use Telkom...

So we moved over and for about a week now it seemed like we were being throttled.
I've now proved that we are in fact being throttled to 2 Mbps by TELKOM!

Our ZTE router receives sms'es and lo and behold on the 27th Jan:
You have been throttled to 2 Mbps - In order to improve speed a Once-off LTE/LTE-A data bundle can be purchased.

Well, just contact MWeb, I hear everyone say....
I can't.
Using their app, I initiate a "live chat" and then proceed to go into a queue from hell...eventually it just disconnects me after +- 2 hrs.
I'm now in the queue again, and have been since 18:08 PM this evening, 42 minutes ago.

So I'm being throttled by Telkom, I need to get MWeb to fix this, and I can't get hold of MWeb to tell them.

Any ideas?

Are you saying you have been prematurely throttled?
Which uncapped package, are you below the FUP?

1. Yes.
2. I'm not uncapped, I'm using MWeb's Telkom 10 Mbps LTE until fiber gets run to our apartment block.
3. I wouldn't know if I'm below the FUP because I don't know what Telkom's Fair Usage Policy actually is.
(MWeb never thought that would be important I guess)

Thanks for that.
It happened on day 2 of switching over to Telkom LTE.
* I don't stream currently.
* I certainly never downloaded 120 GB in less than 24 hours.
* It went from 10 Mbps to 2 Mbps literally overnight.

I can't wait for my 100 Mbps uncapped fiber!!! (one more month)

Thanks again for the info.

I'm speculating that the 10meg uncapped might be a pool device and sim that is loaned to customers by Mweb until fibre is available. While connected to the wifi of said Telkom connection visit http://onnet.telkom.co.za to see the registered owner of the contract and also the data balance. Good luck
