There is so many different ISP's out there - read up on a lot of them.

1) What is the best SAIX based one to use?
2) What is the best IS based one to use?

My relationship with my existing ISP ended a bit sooner that I anticipated :)

Make me an offer :D

Thanks for the info!
D.

1) WebAfrica for awesome service, SOAL for price/bandwidth - R349 (could be R359) for 10gb.

2) OpenWeb seems pretty decent. mrBEEP is a regular forumite, should you have any problems. they offer R199 for 3gb and 30gb local access (remember, local also counts toward your initial 3gb cap..). they also offer OpenBrowse, so you can still browse international after you reach your international cap, at throttled speeds. www.openweb.co.za .

I switched to OpenWeb - Like PostmanPot said you get 30GB local browsing after you hit your cap. Plus I like OpenWeb's vision... :)

I'd have to agree with PostmanPot on all points.

WebAfrica from what I have heard are unsurpassed when it comes to service. I have had to go with SAOL solely due to price reasons, but having said that their service is far from bad.

If I was pushed to go for an IS account, I would have gone with OpenWeb coz MrBEEP has done so much for our community already!

Cool!

Have to agree with everyone!

I really like the SAOL 10GB pricing, but have to compare it to 30GB local...

Service is not really an issue - as long as it is better than Telk*k's... :)

I'm leaning towards SAOL unless someone can convince me to go local :)

Thanks.

Relocate

Re-locate to Europe & you will not have a problem. LOL;)

SAOL best choice, had no probs at all with em. Smooth and simple sign up.
This i assume you want for shaping?

I am one who complains and complains and I can tell you that the best I got is from Webafrica.

Although at times I feel they are not going max, I still think those guys are the best.

Well done WA.

No - IS news servers have gigs of very interesting material - a lot more that what is on useless SAIX NNTP...

I don't really do online games...

I signed up with SAOL last night (10gig R349) and i am very happy.
Previously i could not watch streaming video from Norway with Axxess 30gb account (but cnn worked fine). Now i can watch it fine, so i am not sure what is going on. Probably less people blasting the shaped protocols.

SAOL is slightly ahead...

1 last q: Any way for non IS users to get onto the IS news servers?

Tx,
D.

Hi dmostert, IS only make it available to their IS network range thus no way.

Currently cybersmart is the cheapest, no idea what internet access provider they go thru cause they don't say much, but at R100, they half the price of everyone and come the end of this month if there's no new developments i'll be heading that way. that drops my internet bill to R370.. tho it can still come down more if only the line rental was cheaper cause i think R100 is as low as it can go currently for 3GB shapped considering the price of dial up - R65 - 100+ phone bill.
