Makes sense,now I am really confused.I think the 8Mbps profile should be something like 8192kbps down & 768kbps up or perhaps even 1024kbps up?

I have a NetgearDG834v5 and according to my router stats my line syncs at 8031kbps down and 639kbps up.Does the fact that it is not syncing at precisely 8032 and 642 suggest there is something wrong with my router or would my line be at fault?Have also seen a lot of good comments on the TP-Link Wireless and thinking of getting one too.
looks like there's noise on the line, do you hear static when picking up the phone?Hey guys tried my cousins siemens gigaset today and this is what i got Status: Cable connected
Line mode: G.DMT
Maximum line rate: 2240 kbps (upstream)
Noise margin: 8.8 dB (upstream)
Line attenuation: 44.6 dB (upstream)
Output power: 17.5 dBm (upstream
And yes i do have a NetgearDG834v5 and it keeps dropping my connection, my line syncs at Downstream rate: 2240 kbps
Upstream rate: 512 kbps
but i am paying for a 4mbs line, am i getting ripped off? please any help would be nice.
@AgentJ007:
I always buy TP-Link routers/modems from Uniterm Direct. You can buy the routers for slightly cheaper from them off bid-or-buy.
There is definitely something wrong with your line if the Gigaset 762SX can't even sync at 4Mbps with a line attenuation of 45dB.

as for being ripped off, they can get away with charging you for 4meg even if you sync as low as 640 kbps.
Could it be that telkom set your adsl profile to 2 meg because you kept complaining?
It sounds like it's your modem as the other modems don't disconnect. Call telkom to make sure your profile is set to 4meg. The first thing they do when someone complains is lower their profile speed.
