Help needed with E272 and CellC SIM card

Thats right... I didn't look in this place. Maybe these option are misplaced, they have nothing to do with the program operation:
/u2diag
/unlock
/opselauto is also not a start-up option. I suggest a small red button next to the 'Operator' field indicating manual network selection. Pressing the button - it would reset selection to 'automatic' and changing color/description.
In this way user who receives no signal will find quick solution to the common problem.

BTW, /opselauto isn't the same things as "at+cops=0" ?

I just spent an hour and a half at the Waterfront Cell C shop trying to get Mobile Partner (the software that comes with the Huawei modem) to see the new Cell C sim card.

At first it did not recognise my modem as a drive or pick up the sim card (which you can tell by looking at the bottom left corner of mobile partner). It needs to display signal before it will work.

Things I tried:

1) I tried to get Mobile Partner that was already installed on the PC to pick up the sim. (it didn't)

2) I downloaded MDMA which is a diagnostic tool to check the connection. (helpful if you understand the output).

3) I put the Cell C sim in my phone, phoned voicemail (to let the service provider know the sim is active) and waited for two sms', one with a voicemail pin and the other with my phone number and password.

4) I reinserted the sim into my modem, but only after reinstalling mobile partner (not the latest version online) but the version that was already on my modem, did it automatically detect both signal and internet settings and work.

I don't know exactly what worked, but I think that putting the sim card in a phone so that the network 'registers' it is important and reinstalling mobile partner worked.

I didn't touch the firmware and my modem was bought over a year ago so presumably its not even the latest version.

When I brought it home it was just plug and play, no reinstalling Mobile Partner, so maybe the only thing you need to do is put the sim in a phone for a while.

Very important: Check in your task manager that there isn't anything running that causes a conflict, check processes and close anything that looks like a phone process.

Hope you come right.

*While using MDMA, just before I installed Mobile Partner from my modem, I changed the default dial up number to *99# or *99#*
