Help new pc specs

Yip, I would agree it was pre-rendered. Although in last month's NAG, a staff writer (I think James Francis) was doing the old "PC vs Console" argument and he was supporting the console so he naturally said the Killzone video was not pre-rendered.

A bit stupid considering no-one has confirmed it was not pre-rendered & it's in SA Premier Gaming mag.

Go and search on gamespot, they said that Sony gave a statement saying it was not Pre-Rendered but they also would not say if it was game graphics. I personally think it is very posible that the PS3 could produce it. They have the main 3.2Ghz core and 7 SPE's also running at 3.2Ghz. I think it will be great once they launch the PS3 but I also think with the R520 being released late Sept - Early October and Nvidia likely to respond with a faster chip PC visuals will get very close if not pass it within 2 years.

What we need is for game developers to truely start using the Dual/Multi Core cpu's. Once the physics add-in cards are available there will be more CPU time for other tasks.

I have to start saving for a new CPU and GPU hehe :D

all i said was i will believe it when i SEE it from a REAL PS3 and not some shody recording. is it too much to ask for such evidence? thus far the Xbox 360 gets my vote since i have SEEN what it can do. capice? ;)

Well the only Xbox 360 video I have seen that impressed me was the Gears of War video (Based on Unreal Engine 3) but this also runs on the PS3.

Basically Sony have my vote because they use Nvidia and I have a PS2 so I guess there is no reason to ge thte Xbox 360. Gotta love Sony.

I am afraid I will be swayed by which system is going to be modded effectively the earliest. As I see it that will be the 360 which also is using a standard dvd and will most likely be $100 cheaper and will have a great headstart software wise by the time the ps3 rocks our world.

Dont bother to look for too much difference in power of the hardware as both the cell technology with nvidia and the powerpc cpu with ATI are very close to be the same basic thing. (both cpus are made by ibm) Both are plenty powerfull and is geared to handle at least the next 3 years+ games. Also hardly a smittens of the hardware capabilities will be used by game developers on any of these platforms for some time to come.

Just an interesting point I read somewhere (am a bit out of the loop as I havent read up on this for some time) The major difference in both the excellent graphical sub systems are that the ATI version is using 4mb embedded dram which makes a big difference in throughput.

Lets be honest guys. We dont have HDTV's yet. So getting all this power to run on a crappy high pixelated TV (sub 800x600) set seems a bit moot. We only gonna be seeing high def screen in a couple of years since they dont want to mainstream them until they are supported. I think I'll stick with my PC for now. At least I can see what I am trying to shoot at (thats is not saying I am actually gonna hit it!!!)

Another thing. Do people actually play FPS with those funny console controller thingies. My hand gets cramp! I feel like Quasimodo after 30 mins of gameplay

Well I do so I will be running everything at 1080i when the PS3 pops out. Thinking of maybe getting one of the Toshiba 1080P DLP rear projection TV's late next year or early 2007. Nothing like HDTV and the best I have atm is DSTV that gets upsampled by my TV. Component for the PS and DVD player do make a huge difference. DVD running at 576P and PS2 running at 480i.
