have you tried a defrag?

could be numerous reasons

set the graphic settings to lowest resolution with all detail on minimum or disabled then work your way up until it hits the snag. if it still ***s out on minimum settings then atleast you know it's probably graphics related

p.s. update drivers?

hmm... also check your CPU or GPU temp ... as it is while running games that your temp can shoot up.

I had this before and it was my HDD, well the IDE cable.

It was one of those modding ones that was in a tube and not flat like normal IDE, the game would hang for a few seconds, and my system speaker would make a soft beep, then the game would carry on like nothing had happened.

I changed it back to the flat type IDE cable and never had the problem again.

CPU seems to be fine as you are still able to talk on skype. I also say update/re-install nvidia drivers and monitor the temp as well :)

You have an Athlon X2 dual core? Google and download a dual core hotfix for windows for the athlon cpu. The Warcraft freezing issue is very well known for dual core cpu's and the hotfix is the way to go - make sure it is for correct version of windows because I know this applies to x86 version but not sure about 64 bit. Google for issues on the x64 bit windows as well for those games.

I would for ya but at work :)

edit: btw Your page file is also rather largish and I have heard that this could cause issues somehow :/

In Windows XP Pro -

START/settings/control panel/System or right click on MyComputer and select Properties.

Click on Advanced tab.

Under Performance click on settings.

Click advanced tab.

You will see Virtual memory aka Page file at the bottom and if you go into there you can set the minimum and maximum page file. Not really good practice to use "system managed" option and minimum/maximum can differ depending on your needs. I would say 700meg-1400meg should be more than enough.

Can the page file be reduced in size and if so how do you go about doing it.

If you reduce the page file size, you might end up with a very active hard disk, which means your PC is slowed down even more. Anyhow, Right-click on My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Performance -> Advanced -> Change...
