Help please: Setting up MS-Exchange on Nokia N8

I finally got my N8 and am simply loving it, have easily setup my gmail, facebook & twitter accounts but I cannot seem to get my MS Exchange account working. I am trying to copy the settings which I see in my Outlook 2007 account settings page but I keep getting one of two errors depending on the different configs I try: Mail for Exchange: Connection error, please try again later or Unable to contact exchange server: Check server information in mailbox settings. The connection error makes no sense as I am connected to my home internet connection and can send/recieve gmails e.t.c.

When you start the wizard it wants the following information

• 
  Mail address - I assume this is my email address?
  Password
  Username - When logging into outlook my username is "companyname\name.surname" - do I include the companyname\ portion?

It then asks for the "Mail for Exchange server:" I have input the name I found under the "tools - account settings - microsoft exchange server:" screen. Right after this is where I get the second error I mentioned above.

When I go an check the advanced settings it says "Access point = Internet", "Secure connection = yes" and "Port number = 443"

Please help if you can.

Well assuming the Nokia is connection using it's own connection you're trying to connect to a local LAN dns address through the net

Second issue is whether your exchange has SSL enabled

Who administers your Exchange? You need specific config details from them


I know for mine I have my mx.domainname.co.za forwarding to my exchange,connecting using Port 143 IMAP

What url do you use to access your exchange webmail?
Use just the first part of that (without the http: //) e.g. email.server.com as the exchange server.
In advanced options -> credentials the 'companyname' should be under domain, while 'name.surname' should be the username.

Hey THANK YOU so much, I did as you suggested and tried my webmail address and it worked 100%. How on earth did you know that, I honestly would have thought the server name shown in outlook would be the one Glad you did though.

Common error LAN address is not necessarily the same as the WAN(Internet) one
