Hey all,

Please help !!!!

I have built a new machine for myself (first time attempt at this). I have the following:

Motherboard: M2A-VM HDMI
Processor: AMD 4800+ Dual Core
Power Supply: iSonic 600W
RAM: Kingston 2Gb (2 x 1Gb) DDR2 800
HD 1 : Seagate 160Gb
HD 2 : Seagate 320Gb
DVD: DVD Writer 20x Lightscribe
Graphics Card: Raedon HD3850 - HAVE NOT CONNECTED THIS YET !!

All seems to be ok but when I switch the machine on I get NO system sounds, NO display and NO PSU fan turning. Only thing that "turns" is the CPU fan .... !!!!:(:(

Any ideas please help !!!! I am sitting infront of my machine now.:(

Any reason for not connecting the GFX card? :confused:

The motherboard has onboard graphics (me thinks) and I have not yet figured out how to disable it, so thought I would try the machine in the meantime and see what the results were ...

Onboard GFX is disabled from the BIOS but seeing as you don't have any display in the first place, that's a problem.

I'm really a n00b myself when it comes to building new rigs but have you connected the the ATX connectors from the PSU to your mobo? You best wait for more experienced guys to give yo advice though. :o

I've assembled my pc from scratch quite a few times (I've had three mobo's in the past year) and I still forget about that, or those small little wires for the HD/power LEDs and pc speaker...and my pc wont switch on...I end up swearing like a pirate when I find out that I forgot about that.

Those are connected .... motherboard has power - green LED on and CPU fan is on ... but no display
 
... oh and PSU fan IS turning ... it has two and the one facing into the case is on, the one facing out is off ....

... so no display seems to be the biggest problem right now ... could it be a damaged CPU or am I jumping the gun ?
 
... installed GC and no change ... everything seems ok except there is no display .... any other suggestions?:(
 
U have two digital connectors on your gfx card rite? Swop the monitor cable to the port and let me know.

sorry ... I don't quite understand ...

I have two connectors (HD I think) on the card and also a round plug in the middle ... the monitor is connected to one of the HD ones via a converter. I use a CRT monitor.

No, I do not get any beep ... :(
 
If u don't get a beep then your system does pass the power on self test (post).
Let's start from scratch;
1. Did you install your processor lining the arrow on the chip with the arrow on the mobo?
2. Did you connect both power connectors to the mobo?
3. Did you slot the ram in the correct slots? (U must consult the mobo manual)

** Edit 4. You must take your time with front panel connectors, make certain they're rite cos yr system wont boot.
 
Try this:

Remove the ATI graphics card and use the onboard display - remove your cmos battery and unplug PSU wait about a minute or 2 and place the battery back in the motherboard this will rest your bios. Try starting it up with your onboard display - do you get any beep sounds when booting the pc

what's the spec of your motherboard

The answer to all 3 is yes ... and I have double checked this too ...

I was using only the on board stuff a little while ago and still did not get a beep ... have never had a beep ... that's why I am wondering if I could have damaged the CPU during installation ... :mad:
 
there is a chance that this could be one of those mobos that has a 'bios in sleep mode' something like that jumper and its currently on that and should be on 'normal bios' ??

furthermore you did connect the v12 4 pin connecter for the cpu aswell ?

-onboard pc speaker ? if not you should if not already connected the pc speaker of the case for beeps...
 
Did u remove the cmos as intensive said? U have to try that, but give it at least 2 min.
