i have adsl that doesnt want to work with my wireless router. I can connect to the net and ping and do tracerts but it wont let me browse. i got telkom to reset the port + tried a diffrernt acc and still nothing. all 4 of my pc's do the same thing. I even went and bought a new Telkom wireless modem.

but heres the funny part, when i put my old marconi modem on everything works fine.

please help guys, as im about to pull all my hair out over this one.

thanx
Clint

i've reset the proxy setting in the browser but still nothing
both routers useing DHCP

What is the wireless key/password on the old router & what is it on the new router?

Sounds like a DNS issue, or a browser proxy setting.. ? try downloading FF / Chrome /alternate...
Also try (this will disable extentions / addons) - not too sure about proxy sett though :-/
* Go to Start > Run
* Type iexplore -extoff
* Press Enter

the old router is not wireless but the new one is. but this problem still occurs even if i connect through the ethernet port of the new router.

Have you set any security settings on the new routers? When in doubt reset the settings on both pc and router and start fresh. No sense in pulling your hair out for a setting you forgot somewhere along the line, especially if you know your username and password to connect. First time try connect with a wired connection to the router, i have had it before where the wireless connects but wouldn't browse until after being set up from a wired connection. Don't know why, the documentation never said anything about it either.

Hi Clint,

Are the pc's all recieving the correct DNS settings?

You could also try opening command prompt & trype the following: netsh winsock reset
then reboot the pc.

@wolf - there are no security settings n both routers as for the pc's , i installed a clean copy of vista with no AV and firewall turned off but she still refuses to browes. and all of this is from the wired connection i did'nt even start using the wireless yet.

Check your MTU settings, although they are normally correct by default. Should be 1492.
An incorrect MTU setting would cause small packets like pings to work, but bigger ones like ordinary browsing to fail.

EDIT: MTU setting on the router I mean.

How about resetting the router to factory defaults, configure it again, only connect one pc to test. Maybe something is blocking www access, does ftp work?
