help please :(

Is the cpu at 60c on idle or on full load? Try stressing it with prime95 for 10 mins and see what temps it hits.

sorted ...thanks guys.

problem just went away on it's own ... oh i put in another fan just incase and cleaned my cpu, fan and heatsink as well (it was a bit dusty). the heatsink was a big one with alot of grooves so alot of dirt got trapped on the inside ...temp seems much more stable now and doesn't go above 50 so far ...

Lovely stuff Ryu!

I was going to suggest dust too, as its an evil little heat insulator.

You may want to consider reapplying thermal grease on that CPU, i don't know how comfortable you would be doing that but it would also make a difference.

yeah i didn't realise that when i removed the heatsink i basically rubbed off all the thermal paste
luckily matrix was open and i managed to get a tube. i applied some on the cpu but didn't glide it across the entire cpu (like it shows in the paste manual) i just applied a generous amount in the centre and thought it would spread on it's own once i placed the heatsink on top...

luckily it worked out ... :p i only read the manual after i finished and started to k@k myself thinking i didn't use it properly :p

anyways it's up and running at a stable temp now so i guess i did enough for it to work :D

Ha Ha Ha,

When you apply the grease, you have to believe you did it right.
After all you cant exactly see it once the heat sink is back on.:p

Too much paste is a bad thing, it will raise your temps since paste is less thermally conductive than metal. Is the paste you got electrically conductive (some are). If it is then too much paste could also seep out the side and onto your motherboard. You'd need a serious amount for this to happen but it can happen. Ideally you the amount you use should be equivalent to a small pea (closer to the size of the seed you sometimes find inside).
