Need some expert advice.. I have done some research and have looked at all, ok, almost, all the threads and realized that apart from being lazy, I am also not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I want to set up a hardware firewall and got hold of a P1, 64meg, 1gig hd. If I look at the requirements to set up either Smoothwall or IPcop the pc seems ok. (Your opinion). Now, to choose between the two firewalls. (YO). The PC requirements for IPcop appears to be a bit less than SW, maybe the way to go? (YO)
I am a NoWire client with the modem connected via usb to my "main" PC. From there I connect to a 2nd PC and notebook via usb 802 wireless adapters in a ad-hoc network. How will the best config look like. My idea is to connect the modem to the P1, and via a wireless adapter in the P1, to the other three PCs. (can this be done??) If I install the firewall software how do I install the drivers etc for the modem and wireless adapter? (I had a look at the IPcop installation instructions on howtoforge and all that changed was the expression on my face).

Please, some advice...

It is fine for a hardware firewall. I'd say go for Smoothwall, even though the requirements may be a bit steeper.

Yes it can be done if you have a wireless adapter that can double as a wireless access point. Share the connection on the firewall and connect to the access point with the other PCs.

Hope this helps :)
