Hi All

So I want to go camping with my 2 boys , ages 3 and 5. My wife is stressing because of studies so thought I could give her some space and use the opportunity to bond with my boys even more with 1 or 2 day camp.

I live in Cape Town

Do you know of any safe camp sites within about 100km radius of Cape Town.
Campsites where I can sit and watch them play and not run after them all the time due to nearby dangers e.g cliffs , fast flowing and deep rivers, poisonous snakes,

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I have a 2 year old and she's been camping since age 3 months.

In the Western Cape, the classic family campsite is Beaverlac https://www.beaverlac.co.za/index.php

There is a river with pools nearby but far enough that your kids won't get there if you turn your back for 2 seconds. The pools are suitable for taking a small child into (though cold)

Another option is the Cederberg: Kromrivier is quite child friendly (and they sell local craft beer). http://www.cederbergpark.com

Again, there is a river and pools nearby but far enough not to worry.

Or Sanddrif, http://www.sanddrif.com, very similar. I took my daughter up Wolfberg Cracks when she was just one year old.

Closer to home, Imhoff in Kommetjie - I have not stayed here but the Imhoff farm village nearby has plenty of entertainment for kids of 3 and 5 http://www.imhoff.co.za

Awesome!! Thanks for the suggestions. Im checking them out online now. ;-)

When you are camping with Kids it's always a good idea to take into account the dangers other campers pose. I know of a incident where a drunk camper moved a car and almost drove over a tent with a couple of kids sleeping inside. I now always park the car in such a way that it protects the tent. Random and unlikely but damn there are some seriously dumbass people out there.

Awesome

Been keen to take my girls; this is just what I was going to ask also

Thanks very much

Goudini Spa can work too.
In Langebaan you can try Leentjiesklip.
There is also Hollandse Molen close to Paarl.

Beachcamp is now in the hands of other owners.
Everything was leveled and replaced with tin shacks.
You not going the get away under R1k per person per night :(

I like to camp in a tent below the lighthouse at Tietiesbaai.
It's a bit far from the ablutions, but then I like it that way :)

Ask YingYang where not to go: https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/877078-Getting-frisky-in-public

We had a very nice camping time with the young ones at Bergrivier outside of Paarl. That was 10 years ago, so dunno what it is like there now. Nice slow flowing river which they enjoyed tremendously.

Where did YingYang's incident take place? LOL. Berg river looks nice, more pricier than any other I've come across but if its safe and fun a couple extra hundred bucks I suppose is worth it.

Found this place called Ou Skip

http://www.ouskip.co.za/facilities-2/

Not expensive
Looks quite safe from a security point of view
Big open grass area, kiddies swimming pool, putt putt ,games room etc

I think just for a quick 1-2 day getaway with my 2 toddlers , no tv, no computers , this looks like a good fit.
Gonna contact them now and hope they have availability .

Thanks for all the suggestions ,much appreciated.

What didnt you like about the place? On the website atleast it looks like security is decent?
Who's the riff raff?
Riff Raff is people coming in at night to steal your stuff, aka skelms. Don't know if it was fellow campers or neighboring locals? All I know I lost R7500 in property.

As far as the place itself, it was not bad, but not worth going back to. Can't remember one thing that grabbed me. It was average. Oh, and did the wind howl both nights we were there. The hedges do help though, if you stay by your campsite. As for the nice pics on their website, I can not remember it being that pretty.

Anyway, the theft is what would make me not go back, not the facilities. I don't like places where the gate is secure, but not the perimeter.
