Help Samsung 1 tb

I have a drive, Samsung 1tb but lent it out and now it only sees 32 megs, I tried to go into disk management but still even if I delete the volume, the same thing. I cannot Fdsik obviously.
Any ideas?
Also who could I take it to to have it replaced?

where did you get it from? I've had this happen with a WD hard drive recently. Same thing with the 32 megs. I dunno what causes that but basically the drive is dead.

Matrix swapped mine out for me no questions asked.
 
How big does it report in the BIOS? You may need to whack the any other files systems on it, like linux etc.
 
I ran a few disk recovery programs on mine, none of them could fix it.
 
I seem to remember reading something about this on the newegg.com customer reviews and I think a format fixed the problem...

Do you know your model number so I can do some digging?

Um, how is he going to format it to 1 Terabyte, when the BIOS only reports 32 megabytes?
 
If the drive is less than a year old then you should return it to the retailer so that they can return it to the manufacturer. If it is out of warranty then you can try and fix it, but you better not store anything on it that you would mind losing.
 
Im really pretty sure that tool will do the job, I think the 32mb is your cache registering for some reason but not the drive. At the very least give it a try

cos as I said... it happened to me before. And I have seen it on other drives as well. They are pretty much useless after that.

The 32 megabytes comes from the buffer memory size, which means the platters or head are dead and all the drive can see is the buffer.
 
Had this same issue only after installing about 200GB worth of data on the drive. After reboot this started happening as you described. I did so many things I cannot recall but it is also still working and has not given my any hassle since.
