here to there.
Hi I've bought this netis (DL4422V) router as a cheap replacement for my dood adsl router and have been struggling to get the account to connect. The router detects my dsl line and shows its stats. But I cant get the account to connect and get online. I have gone through the wizard. I have set the VPI to 8 and VCI to 35, no luck. It is set to PPPoE. I have tried the openserve guest account, nada. I can confirm the line works as an old tplink I borrowed connects no problems. It is just when it gets to the PPPoE stage that nothing happens (on the netis), no ip addresses or dnses assigned. Just the occasisonal red light on internet for whatever thats worth. The log is also pathetic as it just logs local dchp events. Has anyone gotten Netis routers to work via DSL and am I missing something in my config. Will attach screenshots of the menus, router is not connected to dsl though as I will only be able to mess with it tomorrow. Its a 10mbps adsl line ADSL2+ Annex A

Yep, there's a reason why they sell new for as little as R138 (Geewiz). They are rubbish.
I have battled with one for a neighbour. In the end I told her not to buy garbage from Takealot and rather call me again once she's got a decent router.
It was impossible to set up - simply wouldn't connect, regardless of what I did.

Buy a better router. Those things are absolute crap.
Fair enough, I will stick with my lte for a bit don't see the point in buying another router for adsl since fibre is so close it will just end up being not used here.

Guess I invested in some top tier landfill, at least it knowing I am not the only one makes this less of a potential headache

Have you tried going through the setup wizard as at the bottom of their website?

First pin reset it
Use the wizard
After that, restart the pos.

Tested one last week at the holiday home, the one with the usb on top. Bought it as a cheap backup in case my old DO Netgear DGN Something hits the fan.

Even though i saw its garbage, i tested it with no issues all day.

I have been doing that, but I see even while doing that it defaulted to br1483 and 5/35 vci/vpi. When pointed out a few posts ago I changed it to PPPoE and it works now.

These netis modems are dirt cheap and they work well considering the price also very light on power consumption compared to other models. They also handle IPv4/IPv6 Dual stack pretty well.

That said they are quite a pain to setup. I always suggest deleting ALL the wan interfaces and setting one up from scratch.

Yes, I remember you helping me to set mine up. It was quite a hassle, in the end I was about to throw it out the window, then we managed to get it working after deleting all the WAN and setting up one and voila - I had internet joy! I will always be grateful for the superior service I received from you. We are a very happy 40mbps VDSL family enjoying superior uncapped unshaped unthrottled internet!!

I struggled for several days with this router. Eventually I just paid R850 for TP link TD-W9970. Got it working in 2 minutes.

im also a fan of those netis's for the R300 odd they cost. work well as wireless repeaters (better than the plug socket ones at least), very good wifi range for the price.
