Hey all,

After 1 year and 8 months I finally have an my ADSL line installed.

I got home last night, set up the router and tried to connect with my username and pass without sucess.

The DSL light on the modem is a constant green but the internet light stays red.

I phoned telkom and went into the router setup, checked the settings were correct but no change.

I did notice that my router didn't have an IP from DHCP.

I tried again at 22:00 and managed to get connected for about 2 hours and made the mistake of switching my router off. When I tried again I couldn't connect again.

Has anyone else ever experienced these symptoms?

I know with some routers you have to "save the configuration to flash"
If you don`t do that then everytime the router is switched off and on, the settings go back to the default factory settings.

What router do you have?
MAybe someone can help with the settings.

Thanks for the reply Rubberpigg. Telkom advised that they need to recreate the adsl port.

I checked the router settings and it kept all the correct settings. Only when i reset the router would i need to put my user and pass info in.

20 months sure is a long time.
Hope it gets sorted out soon so that you can start enjoying your ADSL.

Thanks :)

It's been a frustrating time to say the least.

I had 2 hours of my ADSL last night at least.

Just an update. I now manage to get my ADSL line working in 5 minutes. I can reset the router a million times without sucess, but when I'm busy on a call with 0800375375 it comes up. the real funny thing is that the consultant hasn't even asked for my phone number yet and then the ADSL light will change to green.

Do you have POTS filters on all your phone lines in your house?

This is a new one for the books, you have to make a call to enable your ADSL.
funkzar, I feel your pain. But, just log the fault and make sure they have your cell phone number. The description of the fault is: The ADSL line only synchronises when a call is in progress. Note, you may be charged a call out fee by Telkom, but, all you have to do is show the tekkie that the fault exists and they won't charge you a cent.

It's also important to build a history of problems, so that if you are still having problems later you can say to Telkom: This is a recurring problem, here are the previous problem log numbers ....

Yep, it's very weird. I've logged a fault and i'll show the techie the issue
