Help with ADSL

I have started World of Warcraft again last night, created my char etc. everything went fine, but later the night my ping was between 1500 and 7000.

i have a 384 kbs uncapped with mweb. i know i know its not good to have uncapped with p2p stuff. its all i can affort right now. but having those pings are abit rediculous .

anyway i was wonder if any of you have a 384 line and are playing wow.

what would be the best packages to get from what ISP?

must perferebly be in the line of 384 uncapped. i was looking at openweb's lite 384 which looks like it goes semi shaped for gaming. assuming you dont download constantly. which i wont.

i will also be using the wtfast.com application with it. which aparantly reduces latency between 60 - 80%.
 
Sudden latency jumps are limited to very specific area's, 2 of which you control.

The game:
WIM, Gayscore, Recount, VisualHeal can greatly add to your incoming data, specially the littlle PoS apps that join their own channels.

Get a spam filter addon that block your spam as well as incoming spam. Don't load unnecessary addons.

Your computer:
Automatic downloads like virus databases, windows updates etc.
Skype - it uses P2P so peeps can be on your line without you knowing it
Other people on the network "What?!? it's just facebook/farmville!" - "let me just quickly download this, he won't notice"

Your line:
Especially if you DC a lot at the same times in the evening and you're doing nothing different than u were doing before... could be that you have a crossed line with your neighbour who calls his mum every night. (I had this with an oke who had a scheduled fax machin start sending at exactly 19:00 - raiding time)
Phone telscum, hope u get a good/helpfull techie.

The Interwebs:
Nothing u can do about this one except bitch at your ISP.
Maybe get lowerping or wtffast, but only if you are raiding.
 
Get the techie to check your line as the first step. I had problems when I stayed in Randburg. Techie found extra loose wires on my line and the box outside wasn't sealed properly and water was getting in. Solved the problem. Having said that, I had a 512k line. I was MT tanking in Serpentshrine Cavern at the time. The line was fine for that.
 
mweb have problems atm,so dont even try to play wow with mweb, just make free cybersmart and afrihost accounts then you play with that,best is the accounts is free :P
 
i raid 25mans with axxess uncapped and battleping at R30/month on a 384k line. takes a while to load and in massive aoe blasts it lags sometimes, but it works damn well :)

Wait are you claiming mweb is the best uncapped and best for wow at the moment? If you so, please go back the hole you crawled out of. Mweb is ****, and will never be good. Im on axxess express+ and gamepath and my latency is under 220.
 
im not entirely sure hey, when i post in the mweb thread he go's off at me for attacking mweb, then he also attacks them. Perhaps hes bi-polar.

errrr.. where did you climb out? I mean it's bad not good.
 
well, the OP did ask which is the best, and you wrote "one word mweb" without qualifying whether it was good or bad. so he would have naturally assumed it was the best according to you.

sematincs on a friday afternoon is not a good thing to be debating :p hallo wut
 
i got myself axxess unshaped , and im getting between 280 and 340. if the uncapped is the same speed. ill do that :)
 
it is yes, and its only R196 for uncapped from them :D dont worry too much about getting unshaped though if you are using a proxy server
