my brother looking for a home theatre amp. it should be within the R6000 and below range. should not be a sony or kenwood. it must be HD-TV ready, 7.1 cannel and all other cool things... please help...

So its gonna be used on a HDTV?? not for pc ?

U should be able to get a nice sound-system for under R5000.

Dunno why u don't want Sony or Kenwood?? Kenwood is very good, Pioneer is also good :>

Try having a look at House&Home, or Game. U could even go and have a look at www.game.co.za or www.makro.co.za

Hope that helps :>

Sony DA1200ES... 5 star award from What HiFi...

oh sorry, you know better... how 'bout Sansui?

Why don't you get a Denon,Pioneer or Technics,I have a Sony and it does it's job very well.

I would CERTAINLY go for PIONEER! Its amazing quality say it all! Im only using Pioneer audio / visual equipment. Even my car sound is all Pioneer, and I can tell u, there is not a brand like PIONEER!

:D Im proud to be a Pioneer FREAK! :D

but no HDMI...

edit: or 7.1

true, but it is a nice quality option. For R5 000 you can't expect much and i'm sure when HD-TV is available you can go straight to the tv from the decoder or the DVD-player. Everyone knows that 7.1 is basic matrixed sound for the extra channels and if you couple a quality amp with 5.1 channels, the 7.1 wouldn't really be much better if you are using an inferior amp. and before you get on your high horse, i didn't say your suggestion is inferior.

I bought me the Denon AVR-1507 today. Havent tested it yet, but will do when im home tonight (01:00 AM). Cant wait to play with the audio mic that autosetups the whole amp.

I agree that it's a good amp but the request was for a 7.1 amp with HDTV facilities. Thls Yamaha doesn't offer either. The component switcher is not HDCP compliant..

Also remember that HDMI can carry 8 channels of uncompressed audio (not matrixed).

Marantz have something that will fit your requirements almost. The price is the only problem I think, the rest is on par.
