Hey guys

I just got my first job after graduating. My work said that I needed to hand in a "Bank stamped statement / form showing what your account details are".

I am with FNB. Is a stamped interim statement enough? All it shows is my address, account type/number and my balance.

Is this sufficient?

Often sufficient but sometimes not. Best to print out that statement and have it physically stamped by the bank.

You can usually print it at a branch if they have a self help area with laptops, or you can get the last three statements free off internet banking and print that. Just take it to the bank and they'll stamp it for free.

I think as long as you have the account details visible it should be fine.

They don't just stamp documents that people walk in with.

They stamp their own printed stuff, which you have to pay for.

Its free if you use the self help machine. If you go to the front desk (can't remember the name) and ask them to print, you'll have to pay.

I also needed a stamped three month bank statement. What I was advised to do:

You go to the branch, print your statement from the self-help kiosk computer (sometimes they do it for you ie you login to the online interface and the assistant will handle printing). They will stamp it after.

They will not stamp something you printed at home, even though it's exactly the same thing that you're printing.

Correct, they not allowed to stamp documents not printed in branch due to fraud

Really? Never knew that. What about HR forms from employer requiring a bank stamp. Capitec stamped that for me no worries..

An HR form is not a statement i.e. it is not a form that the bank can be held responsible for if it contains any other fraudulent info other than the bank details they are endorsing.

This.

What HR forms? They're not supposed to stamp anything they cannot verify for themselves.
If it's a bank statement it's much easier printing it out themselves because they not it hasn't been tampered with.

FNB actually can give you a specific letter confirming your account details for this exact purpose. Just ask them you want a letter confirming you are the account holder and the details, they will print it and stamp it for you.

Just a doc confirming banking details. But even fnb have stamped my bank statement that was printed elsewhere.

Normally HR would hand you a form whereby you take it to the bank and the consultant signs and stamps to approve it's your account.

Can't you get the printed statement from an ATM? Standard Bank offers this service, it's quite handy.

I've just emailed FNB for these and every time it's not been a problem.

That includes SARS and other financial institutions.

If your company is more full of **** than SARS...well then I don't know.
