Help with buying new PC.....

Since 2002, I only buy Corsair RAM. Get yourself a proper CoolerMaster PSU.

There's nothing wrong with the aopen 700 watt. I have one and it has given me no problems.

a Lot of the local overclockers have also had good experience with this psu.

Will this PSU do?

PSU Coolermaster Realpower 520w RS-520-ASAA (FPS-C520REM5858) (+/- R1,090)

The price for the: Gigabyte nVidia GeForce 8800GTS GPU, 320MB 320Bit is (+/- R3,500) that's R900 cheaper than the 640Mb...

What type of stock ram do you suggest?

You can definately do better than those prices tho! So im sure your price will come down a bit. Those corsairs are insanely expensive...im sure they are good but whoa! Most value ram i've seen goes for R1200-1800 for ddr2 800's.Go have a look for some prices here:
www.pcint.co.za
www.digitalsaonline.co.za
www.prophecy.co.za
There are plenty.
Why does everyone like knocking the aopen psu's so much? Are they that bad?

And what about the GA-P35-DS3R? Is the P version better? They go for about the same price?

Not too sure where you gonna get a 8800gtx for R4400.

The PSU is pretty decent, u can even go for the "Antec TruePower Trio 550w" or "Coolermaster RP-600-PCAR eXtreme power 600w"

as for RAM... Im using straigt forward 2xgig ddr2 667mhz Samsung Ram in my Gaming rig(not overclocking), and it performs well

Im not saying Aopen PSU's are bad (im using one myself)
But I feel u can get alot better for the same price

I find that their cables are very short, and that can be a problem in big cases, like the Aurora

Thanks guys.

Will start reading up on the suggestions you made..I can prolly wait till end October if I must but what's "new" that's coming out worth waiting for? Are everyone waiting for Christmas shopping spree to release their new products?

The new AMD Phenom quad core, Nvidia G90/92, ATI's R670 (okay not by november :p), new mobos for the chips and Intels Penryn :D

I think it's quite a bit more special than any other month, you couldn't have said anything major was coming for the last 6 months really.

ja but unfortunately that is a lot of suppose too'sss.Agggh and then you don't know what the pricing will be or how long it will be before it arrives here by us...

Well it's pretty definite by now, but those are launch dates to international partners, might still take a while for us. :( But if you have the cash the new Nividia's alone might be worth waiting for, the first batch of Phenoms probably won't be.

When I say stock RAM, I mean anything with a lifetime warranty, like kingston.

Definitely, check out www.computersonly.co.za as well, and www.take2.co.za.

Doing comparisons between those two and prophecy/sybaritic/pcint will always get you better results than jump.co.za, they don't end up with very good prices there. :/

Hey Ekhaatvensters...looks more like the nvidia will be more of a chip upgrade than a whole new gfx card...but that said it could still be pretty nice :D

Ja pcint has rockin prices i must say! And Thinice(digitalsaonline) had the 22' samsung on special for R2640 or something like that.Very nice indeed.

basically, to get comparisons between the main computershops, i usually use bluesting.co.za

jump.co.za just floods you with wantitall crap.

Aah but bluesting also often doesn't catch the best prices, but they have a few better places listed, much better than jump.

I just look around myself.

Zen: Ja, the G92 could be fun though, a higher-end mainstream chip apparently.. might make a nice new 8800GTS replacement, so we can start recommending something besides that. :p

Thats what ive been "hearing" but its all happening so slowly(to me at leist).I suppose its nice that its rather a high-end(midrange) card rather than a 8800 ultra replacement killer! Hhehehe. But its all been speculation up to now and the current cards are coping pretty well so it makes more sense if you think about. But it could be cool!!!( Im also in the process of buying a new comp-very similar to his one and i don't really like the idea of my new gfx card being immediately being nailed by a new one!) Oh well.

That's expensive for that PSU. I have the 650watt Extreme Power version and I paid R750 for it at Java Cafe.

I can guarantee that Java Cafe could put that together for you for much less.
