For the last few weeks my connection keeps dropping intermittently. Sometimes every few minutes, sometimes it will go a few hours before dying. I always used to connect at 512/4096, now it fluctuates, I've seen 212/3500 and other combinations.

I don't know if any of this information might provide help to experts around here:

Operational Mode ADSL2+
Upstream 295 kbps
Downstream 4096 kbps
SNR Margin (Upstream) 3.4 db
SNR Margin (Downstream) 11.4 db
Line Attenuation (Upstream) 32.0 db
Line Attenuation (Downstream) 28.0 db

Anything look out of place or ideas on what I can do?

Just died again and reconnected, now I'm getting this:

Operational Mode ADSL2+
Upstream 507 kbps
Downstream 4096 kbps
SNR Margin (Upstream) 5.8 db
SNR Margin (Downstream) 11.9 db
Line Attenuation (Upstream) 32.0 db
Line Attenuation (Downstream) 28.0 db

SNR Margin (Upstream) 3.4 db

your upstream is way to low, try to get 6 atleast , ideal is 12 or more.

so get new router that sync better, first try another one from friend make sure its router giving crap sync speed and not something else.

You can try to change your ADSL modem's modulation mode from ADSL2+ to G.Dmt. There is an odd chance that G.Dmt modulation is not supported by the DSLAM at all, in which case you'll have to change back the modulation mode to Auto or ADSL2+ again.
If your SNR margins aren't better with G.Dmt modulation, then change back as well. Please take note of the upstream & downstream speeds when checking the SNR margins, because if the downstream & upstream values are like quite a bit lower, then the SNR margins should also be higher, since the SNR margins are affected by the line attenuation, upstream/downstream-speed & modem/DSLAM quality.

You can also phone Telkom and ask them to reset your port on the DSLAM, which might hopefully fix your upstream SNR problem.
