Hi All,

I have a SD PVR and moved to a new place recently. Now the problem is that the cable for TV2 is too short to reach the room where TV2 is. Do I need to get a new cable or is there a way to extend the same cable I have using adaptors etc and a new portion of cable. Also, can I buy said adaptors and cable from places like Game?

i once spliced together three loose sections using a steak knife and some insulation tape. works fine.

but if you want to get fancy, Game or HifiCorp will have connectors. Just get however much more cable you need.

Thanks. I just hope they understand what I'm trying to do. The help at Game can be quite clueless at times.

That is so wrong, but I've seen it in big communal installations. Shocking what installers do when they run out of time and parts...

If you want the TV LINK eye to work on the TV2 RF Output connection, the TV co-axial aerial cable HAS to be UNBROKEN (WITHOUT ANY Joins or Splices / Splitters) so that the DC pass through signal can be sent to the TV LINK from the SD-PVR's RF OUT connection, allowing the PVR TV2 Remote to function.

The BEST way to do this is to use an Ellies SB5F RF Set Back Amplifier to send the RF Output of the SD-PVR to BOTH TV's - TV1 & TV2 - ensuring that the jumper is installed on the back of the SB5F allowing the DC pass through signal for the TV LINK to be sent to the Television Set connected to the TV2 RF Output.

I hope this helps you out!

Haha it did help, helped confusing me! So is my current cable going to go to waste then?

Best solution if a TV co-axial cable is too short - is to bite the bullet - and get an approved TV Aerial Installer to replace the ENTIRE cable for you - or if you are prepared to clamber in the ceiling to do a D-I-Y installation yourself - making SURE there are NO joins or splices - for Optimum Signal Strength - and to allow the DC pass-through signal to get to the TV2 TV LINK eye for the DSTV SD-PVR remote to function correctly!

Cutting corners to save a FEW Rands may end up costing you MORE in the long run!
