Hi, apologies upfront: I'm new to this platform and don't know how or where to post a question so I'm taking a flyer on this. If my question is in the wrong group, sorry, and advice on a correct place to post would be much appreciated. My question is if you have a fibre provider (Kibo) in an office building but have to pay for connection to a service provider, do you have to buy your ISP/monthly Internet package from Kibo or can you use something else like Mweb? Thanks a lot.

Hi! That all depends on your Fibre Provider (FNOs) operating model. If they operate an open access network then you can purchase a service through an ISP like MWEB or Afrihost.

@Afrigirl can help you out

Hi,
This is the first time I’m hearing about Kibo, but I’ve checked their website, and they list fiber network providers such as Openserve, Metrofibre, and Century City Connect. It appears that you can subscribe to a monthly package directly through them.

Unfortunately, we do not offer fiber-to-business services yet.

Thank you Afrigirl, much appreciated – yes, I'd never heard of Kibo before either and it looks like I have to get my monthly Internet from them. And they're expensive (because of a captive market, I assume). Thanks again

They may be expensive because you may be looking at their Fibre to the Business. Can you not just get Fibre to the Home packages for your area for your business?

I have a business in a business park and have got Fibre to the home installed in it. The uptime is generally very good and and I just have a backup LTE router in case the Fibre does drop

Hi there, sorry, I'm not clued up with tech stuff but here goes my understanding of the problem. That I have to get a monthly wifi package from them (exclusively) and they quoted me the cheapest as broadband (I just need email and WhatsApp) for R2.500 per month. That's more than double than we pay at home for high speed, uncapped fibre that we use for streaming etc

Stay away from MetroFibre - you will suffer hair loss...severe hair loss

Drop me a message with the address, sometimes fttb is the only option depending on the location.
