I bought a new WD 2TB internal green range sata3 harddrive. The problem I'm having is the bios is picking up the harddrive but windows is not seeing it nor displaying that the harddrive is installed. When I go to device manager it shows that the harddrive is installed and working properly.

Why can't i access the harddrive and why isn't it showing via 'my computer'?

Go to Disk Management.
Do you see it as a disk there?
If yes, has it been partitioned and formatted?

Go to Windows explorer, right click on Computer and go to manage. Click on disk management, right click on your new disk and format the drive there.

I'm a noob when it comes to PC's, so forgive me if i don't know where to find 'Disk Management'
I'm running on Windows 7.
On 'System Information' the following are displayed under 'disks' and under 'drives' it's not showing:
Description Disk drive
Manufacturer (Standard disk drives)
Model WDC WD20EARX-00ZUDB0 ATA Device
Bytes/Sector 512
Media Loaded Yes
Media Type Fixed hard disk
Partitions 0
SCSI Bus 1
SCSI Logical Unit 0
SCSI Port 3
SCSI Target ID 0
Sectors/Track 63
Size 1.82 TB (2*000*396*321*280 bytes)
Total Cylinders 243*201
Total Sectors 3*907*024*065
Total Tracks 62*016*255
Tracks/Cylinder 255

Go to Windows explorer, right click on Computer and go to manage. Click on disk management, right click on your new disk and format the drive there.

Thanks, but now I've got the following message:
"You must initialize a disk before Logical Disk Manager can access it."
the it gives me one disk to select "Disk 2"

and the following partition style options:

MBR (Master Boot Record)
or
GPT (GUID Partition Table)

Which one should I choose? Its a 2TB drive.

Update: I selected MBR. I see the new harddrive and I don't know what to do next as there is no option to format the drive only the following:
  1. New Simple Volume
  2. New Spanned Volume
  3. New Stripped Volume
  4. New Mirrored Volume
  5. New RAID-5 Volume (its grayed out)

The window under 'Disk Management' does not show the new harddrive.

Unless you know what you are doing, select option 1. Use maximum size (default), you can format new volume with NTFS.
Only after formatting you will see it as a drive letter.
