Help with new job decision!!

money can make you happy(sometimes).. but it doesn't get rid of guilt. If you can deal with the latter then move on? otherwise see if you can renegotiate with old company.. maybe not a matching offer but an improvement which would satisfy you?
 
If you turn down this offer, you're gonna be stuck with your old company forever since you'll (probably) never get a better offer.

I mean if you can't leave them now, how will you leave them in a few years? Surely you're not planning on working for this company for the rest of your life?

Might as well do it now and get x3 your current salary, right?
 
I think its partly also his code of ethics.

a few questions .. is your competitor/new company the bigger brand/company in the industry? or a newish one and how sustainable are they? Reason i ask is this, look at what you are saying above and then it becomes almost clear this is partly to use your existing contacts in the industry.
Also is their offer of payment sustainable ? because maybe they just want you to jump ship to get hold of your clientele to switch with you and then a few months down the road release you having achieved their objective of getting increased market exposure.

Also, have you done your homework on the new company? Are they solid? Have you seen their business plans for the next year or two? Are they listed or private? If listed, how are they performing on the markets and how do analysts view their future prospects?

Your current employer may also force you to sign a restraint of trade as it appears that your prospective employer wants you because of your contacts, which in turn will have an adverse effect on your current employer. Dangerous ground.
 
Delicate situation. I would tell my employers about the offer. If they cant do better then jump ship. But try do it in such away that you dont burn bridges. You never know when you going to need that person/company for something. At the end of the day money talks. The golden rule. The man with the gold makes the rules. Hope it works out okay !
 
Speak your current employer about it. As krygcor mentioned they might just be interested in your clients.
