I just bought a new pc, it's using an Asus P5KPL/1600 motherboard, saphire HD4850 and intel Q8200.

It's starting up just fine, however, there's no signal coming through the cable, so I can't see anything on my monitor :(. please help.. there's also no start up beep

What PSU do you have?

Are you sure the monitor works? What about the PC speaker? Maybe try start up without any RAM then it should definitely beep so if it still doesn't then the speaker isn't working or plugged in.

550W should be more than enough, but I guess you could try starting up with as little hardware plugged in as possible. Does anything happen when you try turn it on, HDD spinning up, fans turning even for just a moment etc?

From what very little info there is I'd suspect RAM or PSU, maybe the motherboard.

Doesn't RAM beep if it is faulty/inserted incorrectly/not at all?

I would think PSU as well...

It should, but more than once I've seen faulty RAM stop a system from posting without any error beeps.

If he has lots of RAM modules trying them one by one might be worth it.

everything spins, the lights come on and what not. but just no signal comes up, and there is no onboard graphics by the looks of things

btw, it's only got 1 ram module

there's also no start up beep

Means it's not even getting to the BIOS/POST.

Disconnect everything leaving only cpu & 1x stick of ram and see if you get a beep then. Next add the GPU, then the drives.

ok, the problem is now fixed, I forgot to plug in a cable into the mobo (there's a small 4 socket slot that I needed to plug into the psu) lol. :o

That would be the dedicated power connector for the cpu...
