So the plastic bit that holds the SATA cable in place broke off while i was cleaning out my system the other day
I know I could get someone to solder a SATA cable to the existing bracket and support it some how, however I would prefer to just replace the board which the plastic bit is connected to if its not too costly

Do you know if its possible to source this piece - maybe I get lucky and find someone that's drive has packed up but his part is still fine and we can make some sorta deal

suggestions please lads :)

If you want find PCB replacement, search on ebay for model number printed on PCB, not only your hard disk model. Simply swapping PCB will not work, it needs to reprogram EEPROM with content of the old one. Some sellers offer this service, but I don't think it is financially viable. Think Southbit too.

Connector looks broken, not only a plastic holder. Soldering wires directly is a solution, but it must be done with low voltage properly grounded soldering iron on the antistatic desk.

You could always just replace the entire connector, some of those pakistani cell repair shops have decent soldering stations. Connectors you could salvage from a dead drive or buy online.
