Help with Selecting the Right Phone (R3000)
Hi folks,
So here I am again - looking for another phone. Around two years ago, the choice was easy... I went with the Afrihost special and bought the Zest T1 for R2000.
Now, I'm at a cross-road, again. I have a budget of around R3000, and I'm looking for a decent android phone. Here are the must-haves:
-2Gb of RAM
-Octa-core CPU (will only consider Quad-core if it punches above it's class in performance)
-720p at least
-Decent battery (with regular use should last at least 1 day)
-Must be upgradeable to Android 6 in the near future
Optional "wants":
-Screen no larger than 5"
-Gyro (I'm a pilot so that's always handy, but I've lived without one for several years)
-Compass
-Dual-SIM
Here's the progress I've made so far:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 was my first stop - Has all my "must-haves" but screen is a little too big for my liking - will consider it nonetheless.
Meizu m2 - Quad-core, so doesn't fit the bill, but screen size is nice. 2Gb RAM might be enough to keep it on the list. I'd like to hear from someone who has used one.
Meizu m2 Note - a little over budget but seems better than the Xiaomi. Screen is a bit too big and I'm not sure about upgrading to Android 6
WILDCARD - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua - This is on contract from Telkom for R169, so R1000 over budget, but includes 50 minutes, 500Mb data, etc. Reason why I'm considering is because I might end up spending almost R1000 of airtime in the next 2 years and the M4 is considered a more expensive phone anyhow.
Any advice will be appreciated!
