A bell sounded and a yellow indicator light lit up yesterday when I started the car. The message said there was a loss of tyre pressure.

I put air in to 21 and the light remained on so I put more air in, to 23 in case the tyre's leaking.

Then I read the service book and it says that warning light has to be reset after tyre pressure has been corrected and it gives instructions on how to reset it.

My questions are do I have to reset the warning light every time it comes on after I've inflated the tyres? How will I know if it's a puncture?

Thank you.

When you pump up the tyres, reset the warning. If the light comes on again soon you probably have a puncture

Check for a puncture.

Generally, it picks up a sharp loss of pressure due to a tyre puncture. After you've checked for any punctures, plugg it (if possible) then you have to reset.

When you're normally filling up pressure then you do not have to reset.

Basically, if there's a warning - you have to reset.

Best practice is to reset each time you check the tyres.
It doesn't detect sudden changes, it detects any change based on the decrease in rolling diameter of a deflating tyre, compared to the other 3

Thank you very much guys.

I reset the light and it seems to have stayed off. I had no idea about this function and admit to being slack when it comes to tyre pressure.

Last weekend some joyriders threw a glass into the street and i drove over it by mistake so a puncture was a real concern but holding thumbs it's all OK.

Whew, after this scare those tyres are going to be kept pumped.

Thank you again.
