Hi everyone.

I aquired the 'Program Files' folder from my friend. It includes Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne. I put it in the following directory C:\Program Files\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III.

I then applied the 1.22 patch and installed w3l.exe and w3l.dll into the above folder. I then put BNGatewayEditor.exe into the same folder. I opened it and added war3.co.za (Twilight Server). i set it as chosen.

Then I opened w3l.exe and Frozen Throne started up. I clicked on Battle.net (I made sure that the magnifying glass was set on Twilight). It started downloading the update. Once it was done it said that I must click the 'Restart' button. Once i clicked it I get an error.

"Blizzard PrePatch v2.70 compiled on Jul 7 2003
This program patches Warcraft 3

RESULT: Prepatch failed"

Please help me out.. I want to play local servers (Im capped). Perhaps it could be a registry problem because I didn't install the game.

waiting for your reply...

Go to your nearest computer shop, buy the game (with the expansion) for what... R100 and then do it properly and you won't have any problems AT ALL :)

It's a great classic... deserves the 'tiny' R100 it costs buddy.

Yeah I agree with gdiza on this one its really cheap now so spending a few bucks to get it won't hurt to much.

and yes its a registry problem.

Create the registry manually.
This is how the directory should look in the registry, if it aint there you'll have to keep adding "keys".
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SoftWare\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft iii

On the last "key" namely Warcraft iii right click and say create new string value.

Value name:
installpath

Value data:
C:\games\WarFrozen
//This is where your game folder is.

That wont work, you still need the loader to be able to play on the local server.

I suggest you go look at the stickies on http://forum.war3.co.za/
