Help, WOW noob

Horde -- Sporeggar
Alliance -- Anachronos

I chose both realms for their low population. Both of those servers is still very new, with alot of low level toons. That will make it easier for me to find groups according to other people.

I have now also started a Warlock, lol. Loving it as well. I just cant decide what to play!!!!!

I have however set up temple at the inn located at the ruins of Silvermoon. I have a steady stream of fellow Blood Elves that worship me. They even bring me gifts of fish!!!

1) Druid's were buffed as tanks, this makes them better at tanking 5-man instances which is what the game is all about at the moment. Look here to see a warrior say it: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=120473857&sid=1&pageNo=1
That's maybe not all the factual evidence you'll ever need but I'm too lazy to do look up ALL the links supporting this.

2) No-one cares about Onyxia or BWL or even Naxx anymore. End-game TBC is what people want, and we don't know who is going to be the better tank there. Personally I think it will be a warrior with druid and pally off-tanks. The days of warriors monopolizing the tanking role IS over.

3) Cheetah is gained at lvl 30. That means for for 10 levels you can outgun almost all other classes (Except for shamans, they get ghost wolf at lvl 20). You also can't be polymorphed and you can just shapeshift out of snaresand roots. As a mage I find it VERY frustrating when I see a druid and I know it's useless to try sheep him. Oh and it's instant cast so if a nooblet roots you and starts running you pop this baby, break his snare and he's almost certainly n00b-stew.

So in closing I would like to say that I think druid's are awesome. After writing this reply I'm really in the mood to go roll one. Gone are the days were druids are pigeon-holed as healers. They are now truly hybrids. And if you're guild doesn't want to let you do some tanking they are full of ****, go find a new one. There are people who see further than their noses.

I'm off to go roll a druid, cheers.

Awesome, look when you hit level 60 come to me, our guild is recruiting healers..

Can I tell you why I agree and disagree with you, Yes druids are an awesome class to play, and yes they can tank better then any class except warrior, and can dish out decent dps in cat form, but the problem lies in the fact that they are excellent healers, and the only other class that can heal better then a druid is a priest.

And that is exactly the problem, look on any server, there are always too few priests,Unfortunately priest is a class that too few people play, so whats the best thing to take the place of a priest, "A druid".

I had a lvl 60 druid and I can promise you that when you hit level 50+ you will never ever be invited into a group for anything except healing. ask any high level druids on your server. but if you like healing, then thats a different story...

We played through Hellfire Ramparts on Saturday with a feral druid tanking in bear form, and he handled just fine, only one wipe on the final boss. The new changes have definitely made tanking viable for druids.

You know its funny what you guys say about druids.

For most of my wow life I had a rogue as my main and is still the most fun class to me to play.

However I made a druid alt, mostly for extra 2 professions (herbalism and alchemy to both save and make gold and pots). Problem is it became a twink pet at level 49 for a long long time doing mostly WSG and so on (still wearing the pink legs).

Anyways when TBC came I decided to play the druid for fun before leveling up my main. And you know, the strangest thing is, I get invited to parties by my guild not for healing, but for tanking. I enjoyed this very much even though I never anticipated to play my druid tank style. Its a lot of fun, taught me a bit about tanking, switching targets like I have never done before to build aggro on all the mobs, especially since warlocks love dotting every freaking thing in sight.

When I solo I am obviously a cat with 0 downtime since well healing yourself > bandages/food and mana regen while you are in cat ;)

When I group up with a warlock buddy I change into int/heal/spirit gear. He pulls about 4-6 mobs dot everything his felguard tank a bit and all I do is heal him. He lifetaps which I also heal meaning we can grind non-stop and really fast. My mana regen most of the time, and whenever innervate is ready I pretty much use it. Also I autoswing at the mobs hoping for omen of clarity to proc. Whenever it does I tell my buddy on Teamspeak listen life tap now I got a free heal. So some fights I end up with more mana than I started with ;)

When I grouped up with a warrior, I just let him tank/dps everything while I heal him. Rage still owns for non-stop dps ;)

Haha, I am guilty of that - my main is a lock. Another neat trick is to Hellfire everything in sight and then watch the tank try desperately to pull everything off you before you inevitably die :)

Seriously though, I avoid using the big damage dots on mobs unless the warrior has had time to gain aggro .. something like Curse of Agony is usually okay because the damage builds, starting off slowly and ending with a bang. Siphon Life can be ok too, the damage procs are quite low and a couple of mobs with SL on them mean endless HP for me :)

I leveled a Druid to 60 and loved it. Then I got an invite to join an SA guild and leveled a Rogue to 60.Fun class but no where near as fun as Druid. Was Balance spec but changed to feral the other day when we couldn't get a tank for a Slavepens run.

What a hectic run, didn't get far but hell was fun doing something different for a change. Not too mention cat doing some insane damage :D Druid class finally fixed ;)

One thing I've noticed in TBC that is profoundly different to pre-BC is that tanks are now in huge demand, even bigger demand than healers which was not the case pre-expansion. On our server there currently seems to be a shortage of prot-warriors, but man the tanking druids do an awesome awesome job in the 5-mans! One druid in my guild has over 15k hit points and tanks better than a lot of warriors I've played with. The non-resto druid has come into it's own in TBC. They are now far more than just healbots.

What ever you do, don't roll a class just because it's the "in thing" at the moment, for example Druids! I have nothing against Druid's it's just that Blizzard has a habit of nerfing and buffing classes over time, so what might seam like the ultimate class at the moment might not seam the same after you have reached 60 or 70. Go with the class you enjoy most playing, don't worry about warriors, blizzard will fix them some time in the future.

Heh, I wonder how many belf paladins will be gathering dust in the weeks to come when the hype wears off... I've been playing my shiny new belf shadow priest, and literally 90% of the players I come across in the Ghostlands are pallys...

Problem with this approach of course, is that you won't know which class you REALLY enjoy playing, until you played it at sufficiently high level (say 40+ at least for when you can fully appreciate the 31 point talents), but by that time you already put so much effort into levelling a character that it's too late.

As to warrior issue, Blizzard stated several times that there will be no more "class reviews", i.e. major overhauls of the classes. Warriors might get a tweak here and there, but by and large don't expect any drastic changes. And judging from past "reviews" I don't expect Warriors to get anywhere near the "fun factor" or plain survivability of some other classes. When I hear about locks or feral druids soloing level 70 elites in Shadowmoon Valley I can only shake my head in despair, knowing that I would never come even close to doing something like that. In Arenas locks/shadow priests DOT you to death while running behind pillars so you don't have LOS for intercept. Main melee classes - Warriors and Rogues have a really toght time right now, it's beyond argument.

Moreover, fixing something for one class does not necessarily make it easier or more fun to play in the newly designed dungeons/instances. I went through fair amount of TBC instances so far, and with single pulls of 4-5 sometimes even 6 elites you have to have sufficient CC/fears/snares/mind control/etc/etc to manage the fight. That alone makes certain classes (mages), way more desirable for grouping, than others.

Me persoanlly I am levelling my priest as fast as I can, and as soon as I hit 70, my warrior will be retired for good.

Unfortunalty what you said is the true, I am also leveling my hunter purely because it's an awesome dps class and probabley the best soloing class of all. I will also retire my warrior when he gets to 70. This whole warrior thing depresses me, especially all the work I put into it.

Yay they are buffing warriors in the next patch, just thought I would let you know. We are getting Thunderclap in defensive stance and 15-20% extra rage generation

Yep saw that. It is good news, lets wait and see if this really gets into live (the patch notes are from PTRs for now).
