Help !!

Guys my sister in law has an HP laptop that gets stuck on load up in safe mode (it wont boot up) the start-up in safe mode gets stuck on "MUP.SYS" this from what I have read is a registry hive crash. How can I fix this?

Ok so I connected the drive into another machine and have access, where would I find my mailbox? I need the mail most importantly. Please help !!
