Not getting any luck on the other subforum so i'm trying here :)

need a little info please

after much delay i finally forwarded my port yesterday (i was afraid i'd mess something up previously)
anyways the network test on utorrent showed it worked perfectly and that my port was infact forwarded!

only thing that bothers me is that the internet light on my router still shows as red even though i can connect to the net .. why ?

another thing i picked up this morning was that the network test was now showing limited traffic through that port were as yesterday it was open.... what changed over night ?

one last question, i'm with mweb should i leave the DSL in my username or remove it ? reason i ask i cos i see the rep asked a few peeps to remove the dsl for a better connection, i'm not sure if that situation has now changed and weather (sp) or not i should remove the DSL....

You want to change the encapsulation to RFC1483 Bridged

.... another question about this setting in my router ... i have two options RFC1483 bridged and RFC1483 bridged with LLC or something ....which should i choose ?

thanks

it does matter cos i want it to work as best it can ie fastest possible settings hence the port forward etc

I don't know that (1) forwarding your port or (2) changing your username will make your internet faster but I think that (2) might get you into more trouble with your ISP than it's worth.

the username change was advised by the mweb rep i'm just asking if i should change it back to dsl or leave it without. (it does relate to speed something about being on a different backbone or something)

the port forward is just to increase my speeds on torrents, all i'm asking is if i did everything correctly because my router still shows a red internet light... i also want to confirm that the settings i used was correct... just some info from a techie thats all, don't see why my i would get into trouble with my isp ...

I've also configured certain port forwarding on the router for torrents but never seen that cause a "red light" on the router. You'll probably have to check the manual and see what it says, usually red is bad so it can't be a good thing. You wouldn't get into trouble with the ISP for that kind of change but I do say that if they told you to use a certain username, you should continue using that unless they advise you otherwise. Don't want to get an e-mail stating that your account is being suspended because you violated some or other usage policy.

Red light - check the manual.

Username change?

Better ask the rep directly for clarification on this matter. Also, keep any correspondence for CYA.
