Help!

That is way high. Check that the cpu heatsink is seated properley. I also added 2x120 mm fans pulling air into my case, and 80mm blowing out. The 120's have filters infront of them to keep the insides clean. Then, i also upped the powersupply toa 450. My 300 wasnt very stable.

Obelix, do your self a favour and rather get those 2x120mm pushing air out and the 80mm pulling air in and i promise you will see a world of difference.

reason being you are creating a high pressure zone in your chassis cuz you are feeding more air in then out, hence the air in your case sits more then exhausts.

i have 2x120 mm pushing air out and cpu avg temp is 20-24 degrees idle and 35-40 degrees cruising. I dont have air being pushed in because by pushing air out you naturally draw air in. also ensure your chassis has space to breath, ie you are not recycling the exhaust air back in.

btw i am using stock parts.

H/W in chassis:
CPU = AMD64 2800+
GPU = 6600 GT
3 x HD's + 2x DVD ROM's
PCI sound card

couple things alan:

- m/b name and model no. what is it? (could swear its an Intel Board)
- your cpu can maintain temps of up to 90 degrees on Intel chips before they cook so monnie worry.
- have you updated your m/b bios?

Older Intel CPUs could handle 90C. Newer ones are rated for much less, typically 70C or so for most models of P4, IIRC.

Gigabyte P4 Titan series GA-81PE10000 series. That's what it says on the installation guide.

My idle CPU temp is now 46C and GPU is 46C as well. While running 3DMark2005 EasyTune4 lets off a warning but when I check the CPU temp it is below the threshold at 54C. The GPU spiked to 83C a few times according to the ATITool log.

I haven't updated the BIOS.

have you considered swapping out the m/b?

dude, you got two options, replace, or upgrade,
btw 72 degree's is the same as my friends computer, only he's got a 6600gt sileint, sure it's hot but it shouldn't cause such a drop in fps, so there might be a fault with your cpu, or because that card is rather old it could be on it's death bed. did you build your computer alan? if not the i would advise taking the whole thing apart and re-building it, that way you can clean it, and get custom to taking shyte out and putting it in. my humble 3200+ runs at about 20-30 degrees in summer and 15-25 in winter, but my graphics card is at 50+ degrees, and i got 6 fans pumping a sh$t house full of air in and out.hey have you tried using a house fan with the case open??? coz that works quite well,
