Hi

I got a strange problem with my P.C. Every month or so my FPS in games take a huge dip in performance and the only cure is to clean my P.C out with compressed air. I leave my case open cause on mild days it runs so hot I can hear it through out the house. So I have now bought a Gigabyte rocket 3d cooler. When I got my P.C back from the shop it had taken a another dip in performance. So I cleaned it out again but couldn't get to the CPU fan cause of the Cooler. As a result I could only get a little bit of speed back. I'm now about 10 FPS short of where I was. Plus the cooler isn't making my P.C any quieter. Anyone now how to cure this?.

Getting a x850xt pe next month so I want to sort out this problem.
 
Is ur graphics card not overheating... Also why the hell does it get so dusty so quickly?? Maybe its a good idea to close the case..
 
What program gives the most accurate temp readings
 
If I close the case the the CPU fan goes crazy. I think I got a crap case but when tell the local P.C shops they say it has nothing to do with the problem.
It's not like I dissapear in a cloud of dust when I spray but there is bit that comes out.
 
The 3d card fan does speed up sometimes when I start the P.C for about 1 min. But is only a 9600xt
 
Do you have a fan at the back of the case to extract the hot air inside the case? If not, it might be that the CPU fan is just circulating the same hot air inside the case.
 
Just loaded SpeedFan these are the results:

Temp1: 25
temp2: 25
temp3: 72(spiked to 89 after playing games)
temp: 0
Hdd: 37
temp: 22

Fan1: 3184rpm


Don't know how accurate these are cause on my dads P.C it gives readings of-47 for temp3
 
That is way high. Check that the cpu heatsink is seated properley. I also added 2x120 mm fans pulling air into my case, and 80mm blowing out. The 120's have filters infront of them to keep the insides clean. Then, i also upped the powersupply toa 450. My 300 wasnt very stable.

is that your graphics or your cpu. In any case that is way too high. max for a p4 3ghz should be 60 if I'm not mistaken.

That is why amd :-). run mine 3400+ at 35idle and 49max
 
Any one know of a different program to check the temp.
 
GET RID OF THAT GIGABYTE COOLER NOW!!!!!! That is the absolute worse cooler ever. I installed one for my cousin a while back and it ran warmer then with the stock-CPU cooler. Sent it back, got a new one, same temps.

Rather get Thermaltake or Coolermaster. The Silent Tower from Thermaltake or the Hyper48 for CM.
 
And im guessing u dont hav any case fans as u only posted one fan's speed. In that case get a case fan as soon as u can aswell, cos most of the heat is just being curculated and not being extracted.

Check your voltage readings in the BIOS, mainly the vcore, if the values are slightly off then it's still fine but if there is a severe deviation then there is a chance that your motherboard is faulty or damaged.

The temperature at which your processor is running is abnormal, I don't think buying a staunch fan will resolve the issue either, even a heat sink alone would produce better results than your temp. reading. Considering that it's an Intel processor with the "slow down" technology, it should never reach that high at any rate.

I would suggest you take your components to where you bought them and have them test your processor and motherboard in front of you. Then you can get a thermaltake fan or whatever to get improved temp. readings.

couple things alan:

- m/b name and model no. what is it? (could swear its an Intel Board)
- your cpu can maintain temps of up to 90 degrees on Intel chips before they cook so monnie worry.
- have you updated your m/b bios?
