Henry Cavill: British actor will not return as Superman

On another board I participate, many are pro Cavill being removed, approving that Superman needs to be younger in the new direction it is being taken, duh. The thing is. Cavill is being dropped as Superman, or that is what is being alluded to, and I think Cavill’s cameo in Black Adam was his last outing as Superman.

IMO Cavill still has at least a decade without looking "old".
Sure he doesn't look 20s, but who really wants another "origin" story. Gunn might not call it a origin, but first meeting of Louis etc. is pretty much origin, it doesn't have to be his youth.

A Superman in his prime with a non dark theme would do extremely well especially in our nihilism obsessed world. Then again who can you trust to write such a story?

Cavill's DCEU days are over; there is no going back. There is now the rumour that he will star in a new Warhammer 40k series, but Amazon haven't even acquired the rights at this time, neither are there any producers nor show runners assigned to this currently non-existent adaptation IP. It is all but mere speculation.

As said, Cavill still has other interesting works, and I hope that he gets the protagonist role in the Highlander. I am curious why he isn’t sought. Fans love him, and show runners seem to dance around him, so perhaps it is a creative direction issue.

Showrunners has made know in numerous interviews that they prefer actors that aren't familiar with source material as it interferes with their "interpretation". So basically they don't like that he actually knows more about a subject than them. For example the horse seen in Witcher that they initially wanted to make a joke of.

Hence fans love him because he loves the IP as well.

He said he's not interested because of his age. And the producers said they want someone who can play the role for 10-15 years or something.

He'll make a great villain imo though.

He got tired of their BS and wanted out. After that they needed someone that doesn't really do well that they can put the thumbscrews on.

To be honest I'm not even going to bother to watch s3.
